Quite an interesting video, thanks for sharing. How can we make a non alcoholic rose wine. what are some of the health benefits of this wine

Thank you for watching! Roses are high in Vitamin C, an antioxidant. As for a non-alcoholic version, you could steep the roses and make a lovely rose tea. Add a little slice of lemon and sweeten to taste with your preferred sweetener or leave unsweetened. Delish hot or iced!

Ugh. I started this on 6/27 and just realized yesterday I failed to put the lemon juice in. What is the purpose of the acid? Is it still going to turn out? It bubbled nicely. Is it too late to add? Man I felt like an idiot after I realized. I’ve been talking this recipe up to my girlfriend for a while…she loves wine and she loves rose flavored stuff, so when I saw your video, I jumped on it.

You should be fine without the lemon juice. I have a different recipe that does not include it. The lemon sometimes helps with balancing flavors. Let me know how it turns out!

@@dawgface2393 , oh gosh no! Don't dump it! Unless mold is growing. Lol. Until a brew is done and aged a bit you never know how it will turn out. Sometimes it just needs time. My mulberry sake is a perfect example. It was aweful at first but as it ages it actually is not bad....lol maybe in 5 or 10 years I will find it drinkable! Lol my brother likes it right now though so no accounting for taste....lol.

After 20 days, I rough racked it last night, pulled the petals out. Waiting to pull it off the lees until I get some mint leaves for aging. Made 2 gallons, so one gallon will be minty, one will be regular. It started at 1.094, last night was 1.022, will check in a few more days to see if yeasties are still eating. It smelled amazing pulling the petals out. I did not think I was going to like this, but holy cow. Beautiful color and amazing taste. Fruity/sweet at the head, rose at the tail. I’ll be making this again. I’m glad this video turned up in my algorithm!

Could you do a dandelion wine for us?! I’ve heard that exists as well. I would just be carful of any pesticides sprayed on them. People see them as weeds and spray them they don’t realize how important they are for bees 🐝 😞

I have been wanting to do one but saddly my yard does not produce them very well. I also am hesitant since they are one of the first foods bees get in the spring soo.... But if I can source some I definately will! I do have another flower wine coming soon!

The colour of your rose wine is referred to in France as ‘pelure d’oignon’ which translates to ‘onion peel’ and it’s quite sought after for certain vintages. Congratulations on making a beautiful rose wine! I want to try this as I’ve got plenty of roses with quite a heady scent. They’re violently pink so the colour should be interesting. Thanks for the tip on freezing rose petals as well: I was worried about that. Wouldn’t want to have to cut all my roses and be left with a bare garden either. There’s nothing nicer than allowing the evening breeze into the house and having the scent of roses wafting in on the cooling breeze after a long day...

@@happychick6318 - Little update: I’ve been re-watching this video as my roses are abundantly starting to bloom. I’m harvesting and freezing petals and was wondering: is that a 1-gallon fermenter you used? Your recipe is one of the few that mentions a weight for the petals as opposed to a volume (bless you for that!) and I really want to make this. I’ve also got some mild honey that’s just begging for a rhodomel so I want to make that too and would simply use honey up to the same gravity, perhaps with the addition of a few cups of rosehip tea to get the full rhodomel story in there. My freezer is slowly filling with bags of rose petals until I have enough for at least the wine.

Interesting that you started with frozen petals! I have been making some teas for the past few years, and I have noticed that freezing flowers or leaves allows them to oxidize evenly because the cell walls are all broken up. I wonder if that changes the flavor of the wine. Perhaps also try freezing and oxidizing the flowers (they'll turn brownish) before brewing? That may yield a different flavor. I'm old enough now to try wines; I might make a magnolia wine next spring.

One could use fresh, dried or frozen petal for the recipe. I used frozen simply because I only have 2 rosebushes and did not have enough petals at one time so ...in the freezer they went until I had enough! Lol. Good luck with your future brewing!

Hello maam, I had taken a lot of inspiration from this video while creating my own batch. I have a small doubt and would really appreciate if you could help me a little. After shifting the wine to the secondary fermentation tank. The air bubbles which I spotted during the primary fermentation has disappeared. Is this a normal phenomena, if not what should I do so that the wine doesn’t get spoiled.
@happychick6318
2 жыл бұрын
Hello! In secondary there should be no bubbles. This phase is for sediment to settle and to "age" the wine a bit before bottling. Just make sure you still have an airlock in place and that it is filled with sani-water or an alcohol to prevent bugs getting in (they love wine!)and if there is any off-gassing to escape. Good luck and thanks for watching!
