@@AngstyAnon Menopause was great for me. I had a uterine ablation at age 31, so that ended my period then, but still had the hormone shifts till age 50. I maybe went through 6 months of very minimal menopause symptoms, then it was all over. I didn't gain weight; I lost weight, and developed more muscle mass. I did not use hormone replacements, which I think do more harm than good. I'm now 65, and have great bone density---just had that checked, and have the bones of a 25 year old. I work 10 hours a day, on my feet and constantly moving and doing fairly heavy lifting. I have no plans on retiring anytime soon, maybe 10 years from now. (Jan Griffiths).

Men have different problems growing up. Besides not always being able to stand up after class for reasons I will leave unmentioned, young men face more mental and emotional anguish and have less community support in the atomised West. No true tribe, no rites of passage, if White hearing we are bad due to skin colour...well there is a reason men take our own lives more. I am happy to be a man, but I consider what women go through a fair trade off: men live struggling for resources and partners, and yes it is evolutionary biology to expect men to be stronger and to lead and compete and know nobody is ever truly on our side even when they say they are in love with us(love fades), and women get it easier that way but get cramps once in a while. It balances out. My gf does think I am sexist but imo my points are valid.

My first period gate-crashed Thanksgiving dinner at my parents’ friends house when I was TEN. I’d read a book about it, but the book didn’t mention how cramps would feel like I was getting gutted internally! I couldn’t eat dinner, I was just lying in their TV room feeling horrible and didn’t know why until I started bleeding after we came home. Welcome to the wonderful world of dysmenorrhea! 🤬🤬🤬

I think also that this ep explored the identity crisis Darlene went through. Here is Dan asking her if she wants to do carpentry or asking about playing basketball. Darlene always considered herself a tomboy. Her period must feel like a "curse" because it's her body reminding she is going to be a woman and be expected to have kids. Big moment for her
@douglasgriffiths3534
2 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldsanfran No woman should be "expected" to have kids. It's a personal choice. My parents probably expected me to do so as well, but I didn't. I never wanted to be pregnant---it scared me, and having to be responsible for another human life. I wanted no part of that. And yep, I was a tomboy too, and played sports just like Darlene. Having a period didn't stop me. That's what tampons are for. (Jan Griffiths).

I read and appreciated your comment. I myself went through this too, feeling like I had to get married and have kids when I first got mine. I was never interested in that and never will be. I’m not judging those who do get married and have kids. If that’s what you want then that’s wonderful, but families or family friends shouldn’t expect every girl to have to do that.
