Back in the 90s, there was Lava Links Mini Golf was in the basement. It was a fun place to bring a date or what not. EDIT: Actually that may have been Rosedale Crossroads, I never could keep them all straight lol.

I should’ve searched “dead malls minnesota” sooner because there is SO MUCH underutilized/over abundant retail space in minnesota and I’ve wanted to see some good dead mall content in the area

That mall is kind of famous for having "garage doors" that are closed in the winter. The bottom level was originally a outlet mall for Irwin Jacob's retail brand that sold return items. I know because I bought an x86 computer there. That space in the basement later became a women-only workout place. Up above there was a Shinder's magazine store which specialized in comic books and porn. There was also a vacuum cleaner store and a clothing store where Old Navy is.

Have you been inside Hamline Center? They have short hours and I’m trying to find a good time I can get in when they aren’t having classes.

I remember that CompUSA. Their nerdy computer guy was fun to watch. He was so condescending towards customers. Then again, I would be too if I was pelted with computer questions all day.

Could he have been on the spectrum? Many struggle socially while being good with technology.

Oh man, I used to hang out in this mall back in the 1980s, and I absolutely remember the long enclosed hall. I always thought this was a unique kind of mall that was a hybrid indoor-strip mall. I also totally forgot there was a lower level! That store "Urban Traveler" used to be in the Crossroads Mall where Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Best Buy are. That mall actually used to be another indoor mall, but it got gutted and turned inside out for Gordman's (most recently). There used to be like 5 or 6 screen UA theater in there. That Urban Traveler store (now in Rosedale Commons) has been around for at least 3 decades!

Was Elements a two-floor store? I definitely remember it at least on the downstairs level, possibly in the late 80s. (For the uninitiated, Elements sold fast furniture before fast furniture was a thing.)

Are you thinking about the theater across the street in the Crossroads Mall? I saw a couple of movies there.

I was a sophomore in college when I drove to gamestop there. Thought the garage doors were pretty cool. When I came back to the area much later I was bummed when I saw the garage doors were gone.

I went back a few months ago and the place was de-mailed further. I’ll eventually film it, but it was a bummer to see its further de-making.

Wow. CompUSA is a name I haven’t thought about in ages. We had a big store at my local mall in West Nyack NY. I bought my CD burner for my old Quantex computer at the CompUSA store. Newegg just killed them. It was nice checking things out when they were open. Long gone now.

Literally have gone there all of the time and even noticed the little mall thing inside of the entrance to old navy. Didn’t realize that it had more space though downstairs. That’s wild. You should check out valley creek mall in woodbury.

The area where the Comcast store is and other stores are used to be CompUSA for about a decade. At one point there was CompUSA, ComputerCity (where Guitar Warehouse? is), and Best Buy at its current location. Very nice if you were into computers!!

The gamestop there used to be the funcoland before the rebrand. I think compusa got replaced by petsmart than ps got replaced by something else.

Unfortunately, it's not much of an enclosed mall anymore either with the new furniture store taking over half of it!
