The beginning really has some Styx-Suite Madame Blue vibes. Same Bm chord and similar picking

I would say to just learn the chords and what works over them, regardless of what Stochelo is playing. The changes arn't so bad but you can spice up those dominant chords a whole lot. Then, just play the backing-track over and over again until if feels natural and you can hear the potetial melodies (singing along helps) and only them should you try to mimic Stochelo. Oh, and have fun!

Groeten Mischa.

umm to learn this id say eliminate the theory all together, study by watching and listening.what he does do though is down stroke everytime you change a string and then standard alternate rest stroke picking.notice alsos how he holds his pick and his wrist position, that helps with the volume, tonal pallettes and speed.anyways you'll get it mate just keep at it.oh and the songs are in Bm if that helps.

how does one achieve this level of playing without contracting tendinitis? i've tried to work to this and i got tendinitis...

One exercise i did whilst playing bass was seeing just how much pressure I had to apply to the fretboard to create a crisp note. When I realized it does not take that much pressure my speed increased significantly and I realized relaxation during intense passages and nervousness would save the day.

Which tendons? And which player are you talking about? They're both doing quite different things.

BassicallyChristian Very good tip. Relaxing the right muscles at the right time is just as important as flexing others.
