Mine doesn't have a buffer in it... I have put about 7000 rds through it past few years and it's totally trashed... it's worn out... won't hardly cycle.. failure to feed.. bolt goes back about half way and stops... but considering it's pot metal it lasted a long time...3 years....the barrel and bolt housing heats up fast.. after 50 rds you can not hold your hand on it long.. it does cool off in 5 minutes... cheap metal but fair for a hundred dollars

Those rifles are completely different inside. Wehave explored the 22 mag action, and at this time, have determined that the factory has cut so many corners, that there is no way to upgrade/modify the buffer, without modifying the bolt hold open/safety feature, and thats a liability we are not willing to take. However, that idea is still on our back burner.

Hello Sir, I spoke with you earlier this week and I bought this decelerator. I had some questions and you were gracious enough to answer them right away. Anyway I got the decelerator Friday and took my Rossi down for the first time, cleaned it and installed the new decelerator and everything looks good. While installing I was watching your video several times for direction and I was thankful for that video, it helped considerably and I want to thank you for it. One thing I noticed and I hope you don’t think I am being a wise guy here, but you knocked the pins out with the charging handle down, and that is correct, but you reinstalled the pins with the charging handle down also. The rough edge went in last as it should but shouldn’t it be on the other side? Does it even matter? Just something I saw cause I referred to it several times today on while installing the decelerator. I will be going to the range next weekend to try it out, looking forward to it. Thanks again

What I think you are referring to is the direction I drifted the pins in and out of the receiver, You are correct, until you hog one side of the receivers holes out, from driving the knurled end through it, the holes ar the same on both side. What really matters is that you dont drive the knurled end all the way through both sides. Keep in mind that when Im shooting that video on my cell phone, Im watching the screen, while Im doing the work, rather than looking directly at the part!! Considering I can hardly walk and chew gum, I did pretty good!!!

They're made to go in from either direction, but the reason being that one side will eventually wear out from the knurling. That will leave you with the other side instead of having to get oversize pins or a new receiver.

Updated. After about at least way over 3000 rounds, rossi started jamming, double and even triple feeding with cheap rounds of course. Most of the problem is the mag. I would imagine that by reducing the hard impact against the hard plastic buffer would help with the life of the rifle. They are smooth as butter with the Decellerator buffers. The kids really appreciate the difference.
@kennethrisner8648

@@promotion4909 also seems to me that a softer buffer would give more of a, as Ill call it, bounce back affect and make the rifle cycle faster. I'm getting mine out of layaway next month. I had a choice between this rifle and a savage, i think it was 64. From watching videos on field stripping the savage looked to be alot more complicated, lot more small parts, lot more that could go wrong. I chose the rossi because the bolt design is nearly identical to the marlin model 60 which I'm familiar with. After I get this rifle, and a new 9mm for carry, Id like to get the rossi bolt action. Ive always felt a good functional 22lr rifle is the most important firearm one could have. 2 of them even better

@@kennethrisner8648 If the buffer is too soft, it allows the bolt to bounce back too fast, causing failure to ejects. We developed these buffers to address that as well as other issues. I just ordered this recoil buffer. The one I ordered says new production, so is the new production one different than the one shown in this video? It appears from the picture on the Numrich site like the nuns are gone? I like the idea of the spring not ramming into the original buffer. It looked like you had alot less trouble keeping the new buffer in place when putting the rifle back together. Other videos I watched the buffer was troublesome keeping in place when putting it all back together. Is it any easier like your video showing it? The one in the video has slightly longer Nubs, but I found that with low powered ammo, it made the bolt bounce back too soon, so the Nubs were shortenedby about the thickness of a business card. Also the angle of the Numrich in house photom makes it look different. Youll love your new buffer!!

@@charlesfroeder1035 I used to struggle with that action, and referred to several youtube videos for input...which used a screwdriver to push the bolt back, almost making re-assembly a three handed affair. Now, after the multitudes of variations we made before settling on the final design, I learned that its actually pretty easy...watch what I do in the video....its basically a Marlin 60 upper. FYI, after we made the final design changes, I put over 1200 rounds of mixed 22 through it, everything from low, to high velocity ammo. @@promotion4909 Maybe in yer opinion, I don't buy the idea you need a soft rubber bumper to have the slide bang against. Over time it will chew it to little bits & get all over the guts of the action. The stock one is made of a tough poly-nylon that will hold up to tens of thousands of rounds. There is no kick with a semi auto, the slide & spring action take it away.
@fungoola6333

@@armedfarm3429 You are completely misguided here. This is not my opinion, this is proven fact. These buffers arent soft rubber, they are highly engineered to provide the perfect balance of recoil absorption and bolt behaviour. We can see from the deteriorated factory buffers that they are the ones that chew up over time, and in relatively short time, leaving a cracked and broken hard plastic mess inside the action. Then since the Rossi 'buffer' is not what the manufacturer considers a service part, they require you to send the gun back, likely at your expense to have them replace it. This costs about as much as the gun!! It sounds to me like you have no direct experience here and are just playing arm chair quarter back.
