Rotten Tomatoes is way less reliable for me than Letterboxd which is a culmination of reviews from actual movie lovers. Rotten Tomatoes is a binary rating system for the % score: it is good or rotten based on the review which is overly simplistic. This can cause an ok movie to get a super high rating if enough people thought it was ok. A movie where most people loved it and had a few haters could get the same score as a movie that is middle of the road. Letterboxd takes into account more of a spectrum of scores. I still look at Rotten sometimes but Letterboxd has rarely let me down. I also think Rotten used to be more reliable than it is now.

Completely agree with this! I've always strongly felt that IMDB/Letterboxd has done a much better job at giving accurate reviews that are also very easy to distinguish from each other. A film getting 100% on rotton tomatoes vs a film that gets above an 8 on IMDB are entirely different. From my experience on the sites over the last 5-6 years I can clearly see that people on IMDB/Letterboxd take critiquing/rating moves much more seriously and with a much more objective perception. I don't even know how you would go about finding the best films of all time on rotton tomatoes tbh

here is your guide: 1. If it is above 80 on metacritic, it is almost definitely a stellar film 2. Letterboxd is generally the most accurate 3. Ignore Rotten Tomatoes critic score 4. IMDB is just old man letterboxd

Rotten tomatoes is the dumbest one. It’s what percentage of people lean more toward a thumbs up than a thumbs down lol. Everyone could give it a 6/10 and it gets 100%

1. Letterboxd: Perfect rating system, good community, aesthetic design, list creation, etc. 2. IMDB: Its ok but sometimes its too pretentious 3. Rotten Tomatoes: Bad system, its too black or white and very questionable 4. Film Affinity: It just sucks, its full of idiotic people

I feel like IMDB is the most accurate in terms of what a majority of people consider the best films. If I see a film over 7/10 on IMDB then usually it’s a pretty interesting and we’ll made movie. Movies with scores of like 4-7 are usually just mediocre and have nothing new to add or say. And below a 4 is just trash

I’ve been on Letterboxd for about 4 years now and while I do mostly love it, recent bias runs rampant (I’m no better than anyone else) and movies that line up with the sensibilities of twitter also usually get overrated (in my personal opinion). Other than that I’ve found it pretty trustworthy.

The bald fella contradicts himself a little. Audience Scores on Rotten Tomateos (and IMDB ) are usually very generous. They have the issue of everything being 5 star in a way that Metacritic and Letterboxd do not.

rotten tomatoes has a terrible system for rating films. Instead of rating on a scale it’s just the percentage of people that recommend/like the film and that’s way too vague and not very representative of the quality of the film.

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. It was as real as anything and I felt so comfortable with Him. I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, trembling, and crying tears of joy. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car. I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.

@@dementedtimtam Awhile after that happened, I was watching a preacher on KZitem and I felt this compassion come over me by the Holy Spirit, I believe. So I prayed for him. "Father, double this man's ministry. Double his finances. Double his marital life, in Jesus holy name. Amen." The next day he released a new video. He was standing on stage for a bit, smiling. Then he said "The Lord has just doubled his ministry. He's doubled his finances and He's doubled his marital life...!! My heart started pounding from shock, because he was saying my exact prayer from the night before. Then later that week another prayer just as impossible was answered. It went on and on like that for months. It still happens, but, I have less stories because I quit praying for myself.
