After the 1st wave came over the front , everybody on the top deck dived inside, the problem was the door up front was open when the next wave hit. I think nearly everybody at the front of the top deck got soaked, great fun for such a short length of open water. Beautiful trip anytime when it’s super rough or on a super still summer evening. SydneyHarbour is an absolute gem of a place. Went right outside the heads on a hydrofoil once and road the waves in incredible.

I used to take the day off from school then go into town and jump on the South Steyne and hope for a stormy day. The trip across to Manly and back was great when the seas were rough. It was great being a kid in the sixties.

They're certainly not little! 70 metres in length with the ability to power through swells up to 7 metres (22ft) or more!

When the swells high Its always a wilder ride from manly to circular quay as opposed to coming from circular quay to manly🤔🤔 obviously this is expected with the swells coming through the heads towards manly🤔🤔 but u wouldnt think the difference would be so great🤔🤔

Our ferries aren't built for anything other calm waters inside the heads. So this is a big day for us softcocks

What an ignorant statement. The ferry being filmed is built to survey for coastal service and was used for that in the past. Even had stabilisers fitted.

@@TyphoonVstrom The ferry being filmed didn't have stabilisers, seen here was the Queenscliff, Collaroy had stabilisers. Regardless, Queenscliff was very capable.

I came here for the big waves and rough day. All I saw was 4-5ft swells....a normal day.

It all depends on the season - try July - bigger waves - the summer is usually flat

I think it's more the size of the ship than the sea conditions itshelves, because I don't think that's a rough sea.
