Thank you for this vid. My 2012 ford escape was having rough idle, dying when coming to stops and some times in mid drive. Cleaned mass air flow sensor, throttle body, and reset cpu. Just went for a drive, everything is perfect, even sounds and feels better.

Were you getting a thrummy vibration from the steering wheel at idle, or just RPM issues?
@mrchompify

@@RideAcrossTheRiver Never felt any odd vibrations, other than a rough idle. Just mainly idling/RPM issues. Honestly, I think the CPU reset helped the most. The shifting seems to be smoother as well.

Hey! How you reset the cpu? Just contacting the positive to the negative pole on side of frame?

Good tip about connecting pos and neg to reset the engine computer. Yeah, I've got a 2003 Ford Escape and every time I disconnect the battery there is a learning period before it runs well again.

Try letting it idle for 30 minutes to reset it's self

wow. that was a lot of varnish. mine looked like that. and, cleaning seems to have worked so far. I also seem to have had a small leak at the top of that o-ring.

Resetting the ECU takes place when you disconnect the connectors both for MAF and throttle body. If that doesnt drain it all. Disconnecting the. Negative terminal off (which should be #1) will most definitely do the job. After the negative terminal is off try turning on the cars lights or blinker just to make sure but yea thats all

Was there a specific wire that you used? And when you reset the battery does that mess with the programming of your keys?
@bbbjim1fixedit

I just used an insulated wire, with the ends exposing the metal wire. Your keys will work fine after this. Best of luck to you

I have a 2012 ford escape and i got a oil change. and around five minutes after I left it started rough idiling and the engine light came on. The codes came up as the oxygen sensor and it missfiring but i have a suspicion that's not what's wrong. you have any ideas?
