I was not a really rocker kid in the 80s but I met and got to hang out with Robbin a couple of times back then because my roommate was his wife's good friend. Robin bought me dinner the only time I went to the rainbow . Another night he introduced me to Nikki Sixx. Robin was a very humble guy, we went to the back door of a club that had a band that robin was trying to push into the big time and the bouncers said he was not on the list and had no idea who he was . Robin wasn't very happy but he just started walking back to the car, he got about half way when a man runs out the club to apologize and bring him back. I could not believe Robbin didn't tell that bouncer to catch a clue, and Robbin was bigger than the bouncers anyway!

It's weird and cool how he drags out the G chord kind of lazy and late, instead of stabbing it hard on the one or even the upbeat before the one. This is a cool lesson in making the overall song dynamics work, VS just focusing on your instrument to make it the most standout thing. You have to know when to "lay back." Amazingly polished rhythm guitar playing from the handsome giant. The mark of a great metal player is hearing each note in the chord coming through cleanly and correctly, despite the overdriven distortion. I always suspected Robin could have gone on to achieve so much more had he not fallen into the grip of addiction. The "strike while the iron is hot" soul-sucking Rock Star lifestyle can wreak havoc on one's body and psyche. Turning to alcohol and heroin temporarily knocks down the anxiety and stress, but at a heavy cost. You'll always need more. I sometimes wonder if he had not had to jump right back into touring and had had more time for lengthier, intense rehab, if things might have turned around for him. Sad.

The babe on the left side was Robin's ex wife, he met her in Texas at the end of 1984 on Ratt tour. She worked as a waitress in some dive, he eventually flew her to LA and got her a deal as Playboy centerfold. A lot of people think he married a playboy Centerfold that is not the case. He met her as a waitress and moved her to LA and then got her signed up. To make the long story short, he eventually married her and she took him to the cleaners and stayed in their house during divorce proceedings and he had to pay for everything which he could not afford because he was fired from RATT. He became homeless and his life spiraled out of control from that point until his death. Oddly enough he didn't even have a phone in his last apartment and took phone calls and met people across the street at the coffee shop, that's why the ambulance didn't get their on time when he died.

Yes. when i learned to play Round and Round my original thought was....this is the Panama riff at a different speed! The best part about the song is the harmonized guitar solo. I wish there was an isolated track of the two guitars playing that.

Ratt was and always will be my favorite band from the era. Robbin was always the soul of the band to me and when he left, It was very apparent. A friend of mine was very close with Robbin and still has many of his guitars to this day. Many of which I was fortunate to hold and play. I still remember it like it was yesterday and the electric feeling of holding Robbin's axes is forever in my memories. Thanks Kurt!!!!!!

Crosby was an excellent player that never gets the recognition he deserves. He had an amazing guitar tone. He knew where to mute and where to let it ring like the open G in the verse, that open G is INSANE! Never taking anything from Warren, Warren is a guitar god for sure, but Robbin contributed so much to the first few albums. I think the saddest thing about all of it is that his former bandmates never discuss his playing, ever. Obviously, he had a lot to do with the vibe and sound of Ratt because when he started backing down during Reach for the Sky, it is quite evident that the quality of tunes started to decline. I'm not saying he was the reason they were so awesome in the beginning; I'm just saying that he had an obvious impact in the songwriting and playing. Ratt will always remain very near and dear to my heart. RIP Robbin KING Crosby.
