Super nice work! On the saddle rails, for new saddles, sew one side of the rail pieces and use snappers on the other like the pouch straps. Again sir, superb work! Did you whip stitch the ends or did i see it wrong?

Here I am watching this again a year later. Amazed at how that bag came together, no patterns to speak of, and using a drill to make the holes. Definitely winging it, but came out great.

Leatherworking is becoming more and more appealing to me. The cost of getting into it is a few specialty hand tools and some leather, that's really it. There's obviously tricks to it like anything else but it's fairly clean, you could do it in your pajamas while listening to music, and you can create pieces that will last decades. Stuff that you could use everyday and actually improve your life like custom wallets, belts, carry bags etc. I don't know how leatherworking went off my radar for so long but my god it seems like a great hobby all around. Great project man, thank you for the inspiration as always.

I would have gone with a basic saddle stitch. Then I realized that your stitch would keep the upper edges together really well, taking the pressure off the cement- brilliant. Learn something new every day, thanks for sharing!!

i studied leather work (intended for expensive wallets and bags and such) and if I did ANY of the stuff you show here, they'd have had my neck haha ! I suggested using a dremmel to do the holes on the side of a very thick piece and the teacher was scandalised. instead I spend 2 hours hammering at the damn thing. I disagreed with it though, I think like with all creative processes, methods can be flexible and you gotta use the tools to make your job easier. man this made me wanna grab my tools again !

They might be wearing earphones :) but as a crafter myself, you get so into your work that you lose track of time working, even without music. You pause only to go to the toilet, or drink water, or to stretch out if muscles start to cramp out.
