Why is it that most of us never seem to understand these when taught in class, until a video explains it in less than 10 minutes! While it takes about an hour a period to teach!? It’s a problem, that the place for learning can’t explain properly what a video can! Maybe teacher’s should be encouraged to show video’s like this more often to ensure we understand. Maybe seeing as how this is the technological age, we tend to understand visually through screens or something. The fact that teachers who are supposedly professionals can’t explain as good as these you tubers can is quite a concern. (Sighs)

Many factors in class.For one I know that half the time I'm zoned out and not listening.And I miss out the key information.Everytime I have stayed back and asked my teacher to explain .I get it in the same time I do youturne videos mMost of these you tubers are teachers and their students say the same about them.Also depending on time of day of lesson and how much sleep I had I get affected in learning.But when I open a you tube video I have chosen the best time for me and I'm fully focused on the task .That is why we do better online than in school
@daviemeister3355
3 жыл бұрын
@@Gugsy16 Definitely! We do have to admit that we as students, tend to cause a lot of the problems for ourselves. After all, it’s a lot easier to blame others than to truly reflect on ourselves and what we did wrong. You’re right. It’s definitely true that the motivation to learn after being fully awake and focused might be what actually makes either asking the teacher outside of class/watching a KZitem video seem better.

Only if you have a decimal at the end of that number does that zero count. For example.... In "370." you have 3 sig figs; that decimal after tells how precise you were...you were exactly at 370. In "370" you only have 2 sig figs; since there isn't a decimal at the end you can interpret that as a rounded number. You were around 370

It's not true that a zero at the end is never significant - it is all about the accuracy of your measurement. For example, you might measure something to the nearest centimetre, find that it is 97 metres and zero centimetres and write this as 97.00 m. In that case, the last 2 digits would be significant.

For the number 6,390,273.400, there are 10 sig figs and not 8 as shown in the vid at around 2:30. Only trailing zeros in the decimal portion are considered significant which is a rule that was not mentioned in the video. Just wanted to clear that up to prevent any possible confusion. Thank you.

Idk if back at that time it used to be different when the next number was a 5, but today, there’s a rule that says that when the next number is 5, then the previous digit increases 1 unit if that previous digit is odd; and if the previous digit is even, then it keeps the same. For example: 0.2375 is round off to 0.238 because 7 is odd and 0.2365 is round off to 0.236 because 6 is even

The first example you did had 10 sig figs, meaning all of them where significant figures because one of the rules is any zeros to the right of a number and the decimal point are significant. The person who measured to the thousands place wanted to show it meaning it’s significant
