The Avila National Park
How to reach Hotel Humboldt from San Bernardino? Here you have the path.
Of my training routes, I have this as No. 1, since it is the shortest and has the cable car for the descent. It is ideal to resume training or for the weeks in which you require recovery without losing conditions. The other routes are:
-Route No. 2: Cachimbo - Cruz de los Palmeros.
-Route No. 3: La Julia - Pico Naiguatá.
-Route No. 4_ Sabas Nieves - Western Peak - Hotel Humboldt
-Route No. 5: Cachimbo - Oriental Peak - Western Peak - Hotel Humboldt.
-Route No. 6: La Julia - Topo Galindo - Oriental Peak - Western Peak - Hotel Humboldt.
We made the path with quite calm, as we were accompanied by the son of Jesus, and that's why I took the videos that finally are part of this video.
At 7:10 a.m. Jesus picked me up from my house and we went up to the Hotel Ávila in San Bernardino, where we left the car to start the route. We entered El Ávila park at 7:40 am and went up to the "Corta Fuego", at 1169 masl, in approximately 19 minutes. From there on, the route continues as follows, with reference times at a gentle pace:
Corta Fuego Plano 1 (1341 masl): 14 minutes
-Plane 1 - Cruz del Ávila (1548 masl): 23 minutes
-Cruz del Ávila - PGP Papelón (1614 masl): 10 minutes
-PGP Papelón - Rocking chairs (1755 masl): 11 minutes
-Mecedores - Plan 2 (2003 msnm): 29 minutes
-Plane 2 - Hotel Humboldt (2150 masl): 21 minutes
Once at the hotel, there is a walk that leads to the cable car station. Since it is a tourist center, there are many stalls selling fruit, food and drinks, among other things of interest. It is a good point in the logistics to replenish energy and take advantage of the cable car to descend without mistreating the knees.
This route is classified as moderate and it is recommended to go over having a previous training (always with a person who knows the route). Also, you should bring enough water (1 to 1.5 liters), use sunscreen, wear a waterproof or windbreaker jacket, bring some food as chocolate crackers or a sandwich, for example, to replenish calories,, as well as carry some money to eat something at Hotel Humboldt and pay the way down ticket on the cable car.
