A video showing Bus Eireann Route 101 (Dublin to Drogheda) recorded in 2023.
Route 101 is operated by Bus Eireann and runs from Dublin to Drogheda along the east coast of Ireland, going via Dublin Airport, Swords, and Balbriggan. End-to-end journey time is approximately 90 minutes.
A new contract with Transport For Ireland covers route 101 from May 7th 2023, which sees changes to the timetable, new buses supplied to operate the route in the form of the LF and VB Classes, and upgrades to the bus stops.
This is part 2 of a video looking at the route in 2023. Whereas part 1 ( • Route 101 | Bus Eirean... ) focused on the period before the contract change, this looks at the period after the change. Although the contract started in May, new low-floor coaches in the form of the LF ( • LD, LE & LF Classes | ... ) and VB ( • VB Class | Bus Eireann... ) classes started to appear on the route from mid-March 2023.
The 101 is operated out of Drogheda garage, however these new buses are based out of Broadstone in Dublin as they are also used on route 133 to Wicklow. The LF double-decker coaches dominate on the route, but the VBs do occasionally appear (the VBs only appear on the peak-hour route 101X). Other LFs sometimes appear too, even though LF 801-820 are meant to cover the 101/133 contract.
