The Route des Grandes Alpes connects Thonon-les-Bains on Lake Geneva with Menton on the Mediterranean. This paved alpine route is almost 700 kilometers long and leads over a whopping 21 passes, two of which are over 2500m high! This makes it one of the most beautiful and varied routes through the Alps.
In part I of the "Route des Grandes Alpes" video series we ride together from Lake Geneva to the Col d'Izoard. Among other things, it goes over the Col de la Colombière, the Col des Aravis, past the Tignes dam and over the Col de l'Iseran, which at a height of 2770 m is the highest mountain pass in the Alps that can be driven over.
It continues in the next video "Route des Grandes Alpes - Part II", where we then drive to Menton on the Mediterranean.
