We're used to going into a gym and, after putting on our climbing shoes, we begin to climb walls covered with holds, feet and flares, but behind all those colors there is experience, study and a lot of work.
"the setter makes the gym" we are convinced is a great truth, without the inspiration and inventiveness of the routesetter the boulders, the routes and the circuits could become repetitive and boring.
With great honor we interviewed Anna Borella, Italian U20 bouldering champion, route setter and coach, and more, this year she will be the first Italian woman route setter in the world cup.
With Anna we had the opportunity to talk about how to become a routesetter and the art of creating blocks.
If you have any questions, we will be very happy to share anything you can think of with Anna!
Anna Borella, born in 1993 from Como, began climbing in 2004 and immediately dedicated herself to the racing scene. She has been active in national competitions for over 10 years, managing to obtain the title of U20 Italian Bouldering Champion in 2012. She has reached numerous finals in the Senior Italian Cup, conquering placements up to third place. She wore the national team jersey in stages of the Bouldering World Cup and at the World Championships in Paris in 2016. Graduated in Sports Science at the Insubria University of Varese, she works in the climbing sector as a coach and route setter at the MANGA Climbing gym from Milan.
