This is my fav out of the three you've posted so far. It's so relatable, and i haven't been able to focus on any class via the online teaching method, and the classmate that always takes advantage...then the breaking point. Lived it, loved it.

This is such an amazingly done short film!!!! I love all the close-ups, they definitely add a lot of impact to the storytelling. And I loveeee the symbolism, how the desk got messier as time went on. I recently also made a short film about a similar topic - how the demands and pressures of modern society/work life disables us from caring for what's really important in life. This film made me feel heard, because I feel like my everyday is exactly like this, going to school in Australia but having English as my second language, which means I have to use every waking hour to do school work or else I won't finish all the set work, my rest, sleep, eating, health, hobbies and socialising are all sacrificed. And by the time I finish my day, which is always early in the morning, I get a few hours of sleep then there's no time for anything else and it is all of this over again. every day is the same and there's no fun at all.

Hey there :) Thank you for the comment! My main goal for this short film was to make people feel represented/spoken for (especially during the covid pandemic). I tried my best to show students don't always have it easy. With that said, I hope things get better for you Elsie. School eventually gets easier and you'll find all the time and peace you're missing rn :)

@@Valemica Well you did a very good job of representing life for some students. Thank you for creating this piece of art. And thank you for wishing me well. Yes, time and peace is definitely somethings that I long for the most rn. I wish one day I can break out of this 'cage' of mine and do what I want to do just like the girl at the end of the film. Thank you for your encouragement. I will keep pushing on! :)

Love the details like waking up later, the desk grtting messier, the smaller breakfast. Having an energizer battery on the desk was funny lol. I think this is how a lot of us felt over lockdown. I felt like I woke up just to work then I went back to sleep. So happy we are out of it now! Im writing my first short, and this has given me so much inspiration. Congragulations on your film!!!!

Did you use this short film for any other film schools that you got accepted to? Or did you use it for any others and get rejected? Idk if that sounds rude, I’m just curious 😅

It doesn’t sound rude, don’t worry. I didn’t use this short film for other schools, just NYU.

@@mariamhany1533 Try to make your storytelling skills stand out. They don't care about how good your short film looks or how well edited it is, they want to know if you are able to tell a story. I think you can change careers, but I'm not sure how hard it is.

@@Valemica is film major harder than other tisch majors at NYU? Is it competitive? I feel like I’m not good enough:(
@Valemica
3 жыл бұрын
@@mariamhany1533 I've heard is one of the hardest, yes, but don't let statistics tear you down. I was scared too, but I didn't let my fear take me down, and neither should you. You're gonna have competition everywhere. NYU is one of the best film schools, so yeah, it won't be easy. However, you gotta trust yourself and the process. Never think of yourself as "not good enough," because you're better than that. You should always think well of yourself, because what you think of yourself is more important than what others thinks. In the end, everything happens for a reason, so don't be scared :)

@@luluharshie3929 Hey, so I applied with no SAT or ACT and no AP's. Then my GPA was 4.0 unweighted. For extracurriculars, I played for my school's varsity soccer team, studied French, did community service, and had a photography and video production company. However, keep in mind that for these majors, essays and portfolios are more valuable. I've seen people with excellent grades and extracurriculars get rejected while other people with average grades get accepted.
