Thanks Sean. The backing material is called Net Back Foil. It comes from the Czech Republic. We are expecting another shipment in sometime in the next couple weeks that we will be selling on flytying123.com I do not know of anywhere else that is currently selling this material. Keep an eye out, and hopefully we can get more in soon.

Hi Gilbert, tied 3 of these also last week and fished them yesterday in a couple of small streams here in Victoria, Australia. Six trout later (2 rainbow and 4 brown), I would say this is a killer fly! While the fish in the streams aren't big, they were well and truly after this great creation. Not having Net Back Foil and Turkey Flats, I used True Skin and Antron yarn as substitutes and it certainly worked a treat. Will try the brown version to see if they have the same effect. Thanks again, all the way from 'Down Under'!

Do you have a good source for Tungsten Beads? Also, any ideas where to get the net back foil in dark brown? Thanks Gil
@GilbertRowley
9 жыл бұрын
I've been getting my tungsten from Rip Lips Fishing for a while now. They are reasonably priced and good quality. As for the net back foil, I'm currently looking into providing it through flytying123.com or a reasonable substitute. I'll try to keep everyone posted as I progress with this.

Looks like a great stonefly. I'll have to tie some up and see how they work out here on the East coast. They should produce some nice fish on Penns this Spring.

These have become my main stonefly pattern. I vary them slightly based on my needs, but these killed it on the Madison last June before the Salmonfly hatch. Thanks again for sharing the pattern.

Well tied. Have you ever tried to tie it upside down?
@GilbertRowley
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Haven’t ever tied it upside down, but I have tied it on jig hooks. Insects and flies are rotating so much in the drift that I don’t usually worry about tying any of my jog flies upside down. Just my opinion. Thanks!

Do you have 3asy substitute for net back foil?
@GilbertRowley
7 жыл бұрын
You could try any Thin-skin material which is mostly a thin vinyl with a pattern printed on it. Or, you can purchase the Net Back Foil at flytying123.com/shop/product/net-back-foil/
