My Dad loved Roy Orbison and played his records frequently. That man had a 10 octave range. My Dad has been gone for 6 years now and every time I hear one of Roy’s songs I remember my Dad and I listening together. I hope you met Roy in Heaven Dad.

Hey Hirdy...I don't know a thing about Roy, noticed sunglasses...was he blind? My oldest son Jason Roberson performs INSIDE, with sunshades on! Was wondering...this man is magical sounding to me!

No Lucy Roy wasn't blind, he wore prescribed glasses and once left them on a plane and was forced to use his prescribed sunglasses for a show. It worked so well he decided to perform in them permanently. Elvis Presley described Roy's as 'the greatest singer in the world and said that he had a perfect voice. Roy was also a great composer and wrote most of the songs he recorded. He suffered much tragedy in his life, his first wife was killed in a motorbike accident and he lost two young sons in a house fire. His second wife Barbara worked hard to maintain his legacy but sadly died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 61, 23 years to the day that Roy died of a hear attack at the age of 51. Incidentally he and I were both born on April 23, useless information that last bit I know, but I kind of like it!

Wow hirdy...I sure could see the sadness even with shades! I remember on stage especially in 70' Elvis bringing his name up a few times and the way he did it, you could tell he had fondness and repect for him! I just didn't know who he was! Could you tell me a few of Roy's songs he did?
