these will probably be in the water just as the UK and Australian ships are going into retirement

WARNING: The CH-148 helicopter is not a multi role helicopter having no attack weapons on a "Destroyer' ! Unlike the MH-60R Seahawk used by United States and Australia. * Faster * High powered machine gun (x1). * Missiles (x8).

Australia's version of the same BAE SystemsType 26 warships, started construction on the 21st of June. The Australian ships will be called Hunter Class. Let's see who can get the first ship operational. Game On!

Hopefully these brand new type 26 frigates. Don't have the typical urban ship building quality control. All new ships will have tea and problems. But those hairy Dewalt Arctic coastal troll Tips are having a lot of problems

Canada First these boats should be built and at sea in less than five years. eleven years from now China will control all Canadian waters but maybe that was the plan all along.

What a joke! Over 10 years to build it. Irving shouldn’t be building it and no other Canadian ship manufacturers. In 10 years from now we need 10~15 of those ships by 2035.

I wish I was not so cynical about these announcements. Canada has such a long and sad history of making these grandiose defense announcements that some how never come to pass or get so watered down as to be meaningless.

They have already started cutting steel. This project is a definite go. Not only are they planning 15 new destroyers. The RCN has also announced plans for 12 new submarines, and are looking at possible replacement of the 12 minesweepers/coastal defense ships. Add in the five AOPS and two new fleet replenishment ships and you are looking at nearly 50 ships and a complete turnover in naval capabilities for the country (although complete buildout will take 20 years or so).
