I love your honesty within this video... and really feel for you.. I've a Hunter so I look forward to think I might have a shade more room . ? I did see a guy use cable ties just to hold up the bit's and pieces out the way. As you said you could just cut the video... then start again in saying there we are tops off ! Your a genuine person.

Hi, and thank you for your comment, I think the hunter may have a bit more room, it's just a bit fiddly, I always show the complete thing, if it goes wrong or I struggle I show it, at least then other people know what to expect, thank you for watching........ Colin ☺️

Thanks for posting all that. After watching it, i feel like I've done the job myself. When I do get round to servicing mine myself it will be like the second time round and a lot easier!

Hi Mark, yes it was a bit awkward, but my chunky hands don't help 😂, yes I was hoping to get the tank on today but I had other commitments, so hopefully tomorrow, I need to know if that rocker gasket is going to leak or not ? ......... Colin ☺️

Put a camera on it and you can guarantee it will NOT go to plan! Well done Colin, despite the demons you won. Cheers, DINO and Fam.

Number One, You need to get the coil up out of the way, plus the wiring to the back, There's a little nut has to be undone, To get it all up out of the way, Then the cover Will come off, The gasket has to come off, And I recommend you put black sealant sparingly on both sides, Place it in the cover to replace on the head after doing your tappet check's, If you don't put sealant on this cover,it will leak, So be a belt and braces man and use sealant, The bolts are 10 Newton Metres, And it matters! I've done this procedure on my Royal Enfield Hunter 350 which is the same engine, I would highly recommend you watch a few different Service's, on these types of bikes, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble 👍 Also you never showed taking the Tank off? Cheers Paul Foster 👍

Hi paul, yeah, I moved the coil and all the wiring well out the way, and I removed a lot of messy black gasket sealant, the bike has been on several runs now and no leaks whatsoever, I take on board what you're saying, but in over 50 years of working on bikes I've only ever used gasket seal once and that was on a BMW 1200rt, normally if it's well cleaned and correctly positioned you very rarely need sealant, but cheers for the input..........Colin 😊

@@droneon29 Yes it's funny that, I followed all the best videos instructions, Tried to do my Hunter without putting any sealant on twice, It simply wouldn't stop leaking, So third time I was determined it wasn't happening again, So I decided to put sealant on, I'm definitely using it on my Interceptor, I'm not having any Shenanigans again with that, as I say, I only put it on very sparingly, Because you don't want to risk it getting into the engine, I myself have been riding motorcycles 50 years, but have only really got into servicing bike's in the last 5 years or so, mainly because I rode Japanese bike's, And only did Oil and Filter etc, All the best, Cheers Paul 👍

Hi Paul, I know exactly what you mean, years ago the mating surfaces of engine parts were smoothed to perfection, sadly in this day and age of mass production the standards have dropped, hence the need for more sealant use, and I'm certainly not knocking anyone for using it, I remember about 15 years ago I had the Suzuki bandit 1200, and the oil filter just wouldn't seal no matter what I tried, take care ......Colin ☺️

Well done Colin, you got there in the end. I have watched several you tubers tackle this job and all seemed to have excessive gasket sealant in the same spot, surely then it is done at the factory during build? Anyway great perseverance take care.

spoke too soon on the other video, I remember watching another video on this job and went back for another viewing side by side with yours, when they undid the three bolts the coil pack just fell out the way whereas yours seemed hemmed in from all directions. Never thought about checking my feeler gauges, a little job for tomorrow, as they're something over 50 years old and have been stuffed through many tappets over the years be interesting to see if they are what they should be. Saw some in the middle of Lidl the other day.

Hi Alan, yes mine was an awkward thing to get out, it was a tight fit and not a lot of slack on the cables, I'm a great believer in showing everything I do, even if it's a struggle, at least then others know what they could be facing, unfortunately others cut the awkward bits out, ill bet your old feller gauges are good, id even go with the Lidl ones with no problem, but I made the stupid mistake of getting cheap Chinese ones, now I'm not saying that everything that comes out of china isn't good because I have some great things at extremely good prices, you just have to be a bit careful, .........Colin 😊
