Pat Micucci: I don't know where you went to school but McAllister got 1.74 million in chips at the start of the hand. At the turn he counts his odds: 4 cards on the table plus his own 2 is 6 cards he knows, 46 cards left in the deck. 4 hearts out so 9 hearts left that give him a king high flush with high odds to win the hand plus additional money. Now you can add the 9 of spades and diamonds to it as both would give him the nuts. The 9 of clubs is dangerous and could cost him money. 11 outs now. Ace of spades and ace of diamonds also give him the nuts. 13 outs of 46 cards, 15 outs if you don't put Rabah on a flush draw. That's 28 to 32% for the nuts. Second step: your odds to beat Rabah and your odds to get more money out of him even if you lose to Tedeschi. Rabah plays his hand like a draw, he's most likely not super strong on the turn. K 10, a flush draw or a weaker hand like ace jack for example. He splits with K 10 on 6 outs but beats it with the other 9 which is great. He beats ace jack or a pair with all those outs plus likely any of the 3 kings left which gives him 18 outs. A set can almost be ruled out, the only danger comes from a flush draw on clubs or something like ace 8 of hearts. 13% to split vs one specific and realistic hand, 19% to make additional money (maybe a lot) vs different realistic hands while only 5% chance to be faced with a somewhat tough decision on the river vs Rabah in case he draws for the flush with clubs (only the 9 and ace would be difficult to fold for McAllister). Plus a highly unlikely chance that the 7 hearts that give him the flush but no straight flush hurt him. The odds for the big part of his stack are clearly in McAllister's favor vs hands that make sense here. Part 3: odds to beat both opponents. Tedeschi can have a lot of combinations given his play pre-flop and on the flop. Unlike Rabah I don't rule out a set here. A Q, Jacks or 10s also make sense to me, same goes for both flush draws. Vs sets McAllister got 13 outs (all hearts except for the 8 and the 4 plus three aces and three 9s), that's 28%. Even without the nuts he can beat other realistic hands like A K, A Q, AJ or 10s. If he doesn't want to fold on the river even a bluff could be successful as Tedeschi's tournament is on the line. He's somewhere in the high 30s or at 40% vs Tedeschi. So a check would be right if he puts Tedeschi on a set and it's only the two of them. But it ain't: his odds vs Rabah are that good, his odds vs Tedeschi are decent and his odds for cashing in big time are much higher than they usually are as a good river card does not only improve his hand but gives him the nuts or at least in most cases a hand that's easy to decide on with low risk of losing chips. Therefore playing the odds here and committing 12.5 % of his chips (220k out of 1.74 million) on a 30-40% chance that the river helps him vs both, but most likely at least vs Rabah is the absolute right decision and got nothing to do with luck. Luck is that Rabah bets 300k and McAllister hits the ultimate river card. His decision though is absolutely solid. McAllister knows full well that Tedeschi is ahead on the turn and is very likely to push all-in (not even a third of McAllister's stack, even with two players a justified gamble to call/play your odds). But the crucial part here are the odds vs both opponents, in particular the bigger stack. I'm not an expert and some details may need a slight correction. Where your 90 and 21% stem from though is beyond me. Even if your numbers were correct (you're miles off, pal), a three way pot with that hand is a little more complicated and honestly deserves more respect than your lazy math.

I don't get your point. Tedeschi means Germans in Italian so what does that have anything to do with the fact that France is called so after the Franks? Tedeschi isn't even a French name, it comes from the Latin theodisce.

He had 8 9 hearts and put him on ace 10 clubs thinking he would not have the flush on the river but then put him on king 4 hearts making the better flush and still be going on after the flop with the lowest pair since the turn was a heart, best laydown ever with middle pair and later even a flush, making it a royal was a bonus but folding 8 9 hearts took a lot of balls .

Best hand I've ever folded after the river was a full house... 3 other people stayed and went all in... One guy had a flush, then another had a straight flush, and the last guy had a higher straight flush... Just unbelievable hand. Still haven't seen a royal go all the way, only ever seen it after everyone else folded. To see in a tournament like this was definitely cool!

I not played a heap of poker but did see a Royal flush one night when playing and I remember noting when the guy had it, it was not a big pot like this and in fact was one of smallest pots around the time I was playing. Which was an insight that you do no need to have the most magical hands to win more money, you just got to make the most of the hands you do get. I remember winning a few hands with more money and nowhere near a Royal flush so made a mental note never to be seduced by how the cards come out but more by the situations at hand. That was stiff on the guy with three Queens. It can happen though. Poker is such a fun and fascinating game, where anything can happen.

Once i saw the table was Queen of hearts, Jacks of hearts and Ten of hearts i knew it was good, but really how good. So i went all in directly, both of my cousins called. +ignacio garcia (yoker78) Bullshit. He was trying to get the best value out of the hand. If you can get more chips for little risk then you do it. Only problem is the other guy was an idiot chasing a pair of K's or flush even after the flop that didn't help him and got lucky. Try that shit a 1000 times and you lose your stack! Just a bad beat. Best to forget it and move on.

I could see going All In in Tedeschi's position. Having flopped top set on the flop with the two chip leads, it gives him the chance to double up. It was just luck that McAllister had the Royal Flush Draw (lucky af). Good fold on Rabah's part.
@fomori2
4 жыл бұрын
I think his check on the flop was fine, if the goal was to induce McAllister to bet. When McAllister does bet, and gets called by Rabah, that is a clear jam with top set. You can squeeze out McAllister of a good equity draw. A call just sets yourself up for facing two players instead of one, and having less overall equity. You shouldnt get too fancy against two players, especially when neither of then can bust to your all in. They might also just make a terrible call with a marginal holding because they will still have ~45 orbits (1.2 mill with 8k/16k blinds, 200 ante) at the current blind level.
@xd-metal9026

I absolutely agree. If Tedeschi can play on TV then I can play in the moon. He played his set of Q’s in the most disastrous possible way. I would have gone all in or at least reraise to 250k with such a flop showing a dangerous flush draw
