"There are no comfortable packs, only packs that are less uncomfortable than others." (God, I love to quote myself!) "I'm 35 1/2 years old." When I was 38 I completed the Canadian Ski Marathon. (100 miles in two days, strictly monitored, LaChute, Quebec to the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Ontario. At age 74 I backpacked the Grand Canyon, North Rim to South Rim in 4 days.

Well done! I like watching these ruck vids, for motivation I guess. I"m 61 and just started up recently. I did 8 miles in plenty of time and I didn't break anything so I'll try to improve on that in the future. 😊

Hi Jim BZ. That video bought back some memories. You are probably aware of the Commando 17 and Paras 10 Load Carry challenges; I'm not sure if you've done these on your channel, but if not I can recommend both. I completed them back in 2012 and finished both well under the RM and Para selection times. 10 miles 35lb in 1'47" Not bad for a 52 year old ex-Matelot.

LOL 2:14 is a silly time. Well done. Jimmy. US Army Ranger school is an 8 week leadership school and endurance course...limited sleep...limited food. Most if not all infantry officers are given the opportunity to attend as well as many infantry sergeants. It is not considered special forces...it is just a school. Now there is the 75th Ranger Regiment all Soldiers of the Regiment are required to attend and pass Ranger School within a short time of assignment to the Regiment. If they quit during Ranger School, they are reassigned and out of the Regiment. If they fail due to injury, they are allowed to try again once they heal.

The true weight requirement is “at least 35 pounds dry”, meaning before you add water or energy boosting snacks.

Well done! Keep in mind this event is done in complete uniform with Kevlar helmet, LBE, boots, issue pack and a rubber M-16 with very little sleep and nutrition.

Well done! A couple weeks ago i ran a half marathon in 1:35. I could not imagine doing 19.3km with 20kg on my back!! I'm only 65kg as it is. I think I'd be well over 3 hours!

So adding in boots and carrying a weapon would have slown you down and I don't know about the terrain they run it on, or the fatigued state they are in pre the event. Either way an ex bootie should hammer this time. I'm 53 and reckon I could still do that in under 3 hours. I do the Fan Dance in 4 hours 30 and the ascent in that is horrendous. I might have a go at this. Great effort all around and respect to our USA brothers in arms.

Correct. US Special Forces Groups.....are " Special Forces." They wear Green Berets. US Army Rangers wear Tan Berets. They.., like Special Forces Groups are apart of US SOCOM. " Special Operations Command."

I suppose the reality is your body and brain will have a huge amount of retained yomp knowledge. Importantly you have to remember to get on the recovery now that you aren’t training this zone regularly.
