@leonwiganer US Marines pull 30 milers, but they're not timed & they didn't check our gear for weight. Also, it's not done in recruit training, but after an Infantryman gets to the fleet. In the fleet the humps or yomps could be 5 miles or 32. We averaged 20, with the occasional long haul or a short but faster 1. Trained with Royal Marines, hats off to them, great bunch of guys.

@mhesi The Corps utilizes Navy chaplains. No direct commissioning whatsoever in the USMC: even its judge advocate officers are not part of a distinct "JAG Corp", but are commissioned after either OCS, PLC, or USNA graduation- and are still required to undergo six months of TBS. Same for ANY Marine officer, irrespective of assignment. BTW....the physical training director when I was in OCS/Quantico was a Royal Marine NCO. One tough, stand-up individual. I'd have him covering my back any day.

@sgtstupidfreak no, they have to do the pressups, situps, pullups after they run. and it isnt 9.40, its 10.30 after a 12.30 warm up, its easy. before training i could do the run in 9mins. as for physical requirements 1.5mile best effort - sub 10.30 pressups - 60 situps - 85 pullups - 6 bleep test - 9.6 you have to do the endurance course which you just get beasted around. if a PRM turns up and gets over 10mins on the run and less than 11 on the bleep test he wont pass, cuz its shit.

@Devildogkilla Not fact at all, more trained nope, we have 32 weeks basic, and more training after, battle experience, nope, equipment yes but that means nothing. And the fact is almost every special forces unit in the world has inherited principles developed by the sas.

RMC and any other british forces all do basic training which is usually 12 weeks of the basic infantrymans course and then will do so long of their chosen trade which it could be anything, if you want to be a infantryman all round then you will then learn to be a machine gunner, mortar, sniper etc... and watch the US forces training, its like being at nursery there is totally no need for some of the crap the team leaders come out with, just not relevant to the job!!

@afterthefact15 Royal Marines are not our UK Special Forces, they are elite like out Airbourne units in the Army and are rival to them, in both ability and usability, Para's vs. Commando's. One's Army, the other is Navy. The Infantry RM are however definately comparable to Force Recon Marines ... they do the same job. Our Special Forces are the SAS and SBS mate. It is ou SBS (Special Boat Service) that would be compared to the US Seals and SAS to 'Green Berets'. These are facts.

It gets really old seeing all these BS comments about, "Oh, this basic training is easy, you guys are pansies." Etc. Armed forces are still, as their name implies, armed forces. Who cares who's tougher or whatever? Basic may be more difficult but it's what happens afterward that really counts. Anyone can get through basic. Not just anyone can make it through BUDS or any specialty school. That's coming from an American Nuke. British or not, you're still respectable.

@redluckyhat3 they are good at cqb, but in the field when they get cold, wet and threaders they just wrap like girls. they cant perform section attacks properly and managed to screw our company attack up. im not saying all usmc are like this as i dont know, but if they are god help us! and they were telling us the bft for usmc is a run in trainers, 3miles to be done as fast as possible, 18mins is a good time but 24/25 mins is the average, and that is pretty slow mate.

@afterthefact15 -- Sorry about KZitem dicing up my grammar/spelling there ... I had to get the within the word limits somehow. Research them both in your own time if you wish to make a fair comparison, but at the end of the day we will both side with our own country as we're both patriots of a sort. There is little point in debating this on KZitem, fact stands both our countries work together and are allies on Operations and especially now in Afghan*.

@WolveZGuY -- They're not facts as it is your opinion, but I made that comment a year ago, and am going Airbourne myself as I feel they suit me more, and they are elite and comparable to the RM in terms of skill, fitness, selection tests like P-Company and proficiency. To be honest I'm totally and completely past caring on this issue. End of. :)

Just a quick update, as i was saying to a few people who messaged me i had quite a bit of footage of me training but i lost it when my hard drive crashed. This was about 5 months ago so it didnt really make sense to start again. Sorry about that! Regardless the medical officers have cleared me to attempt the PRMC. My bleep test is up to 12.7 (very close i know) 72 press ups in 120 seconds , 80 situps , 10 pull ups. I know this sounds like a bit of a lie without the evidence. But its the truth!

it's amusing that some yankee americans think their USMC can even remotely compare to the Royal Marines "Commando's", the Royal Marines have won more battle honours, have stricter/harder training and are all round a more hardenend unit than anyone else and are equalled only by the Parachute Regiment and are only bettered by Special Forces ... British Forces have always been the best in the world, ironic that the UK forces also work to train other AF's in the US and 40 other countries! lol
