What a difference Raleigh is from my time there in 1953 . I thought it was a chicken farm when I saw it from the bus that took us from Plympouth Station. I missed my passing out parade having been sent to HMS Dunkirk for advanced training. Always thought my RN service as one of the best times of my life.

“Buck up”, that can only be shovel face, Lt Andrews. So much respect for him. I was there in 83, Oliver 32, I think shovel face got his promotion to Lt Cdr when I was there.

My brother was at HMS Raleigh, and I think he was at HMS Ganges first in the late 60's. Was so proud of him.

I went to Ganges but was ships company at Raleigh at various times during my 22 years in the Senior Service, parents find out their children now can walk without their hands their pockets, have grown, no longer slouch and so much more.,Friday afternoon 😅

For those that don’t know WAFU Fleet Air Arm Wet And Fucking Useless My son did this about 20yrs ago and retires in 18 months from the Fleet Air Arm Iv done PACAS ( lads and Dads ) twice , from Lisbon and Gibraltar . If you have a family member in and get the chance you have to do it Being on a battleship coming home from a long trip is something really special . Sailing into Pompey for a home coming is something you will never forget God blest them all

Decca T 18 months but it might depend on what branch you go for And when the intake is due . Go on line to the Royal Navy website and see whats available or to your local Navy career's office

Hi thanks for the sub mate ....... No ones perfect ... most of these guys are aircraft engineers or medics.. I doubt most of the lads here will ever do drill again ... unlike the infantry who drill every day ... so they can remember which is there left from there right .

@@MyJazz66 They will drill again, every ship's company holds "Divisions" on a regular basis, whether the ship in question floats or is a land base. You will notice there are many Naval personnel wearing long service stripes on their sleeves.
