If Bowie got darker, and went underground, he'd be like Rozz.

Audience chatter, so disrespectful. I hope those people knew how lucky they were. RIP ROZZ

I agree. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and see some of his best shows live. There will never be another like him.

Rozz was such an incredible singer. His persona often overshadowed his musical talent…he deserved much more recognition for his beautiful voice.

Wow. I only saw Rozz once. I wanted to talk to him after the gig but my friend was being a pill and insisted we go home. I do regret not talking to him. What a brilliant mind he had.

This song is about his heroin addiction, isn't it? I've read many, many times that Rozz was a heroin user, but I've rarely seen or heard him speak much about heroin or anything, except in this song (i.e. - the poppies part).

@@SamuraiGoth That's true. He actually does speak a lot about his heroin use in his music, although some what cryptically at times. I'm curious at what age he started using it & where the hell he was getting it from for so long. Cause some people think "When I was bed" was actually about being sick in heroin withdrawal. But "When I was bed" was actually written before it was even on Ashes. Which means Rozz would've been doing heroin at like 15, 16, 17, 18 years old already...

@@ElektrOpium Shit... Hadn't thought of that. That's sad 😢. He touches on a lot of things actually, though cryptically as you said. Part of what made his lyrics so interesting.

I still remember getting the phone call from a friend on the news of his death. Jaw simply dropped and we sat on the phone in silence a good while. There just weren't any words applicable. He was a sort of dark anti-hero for us goth kids in the 90's. From the accounts, pictures and even letters from various friends, he was a kind and well spoken soul, connected to the heart. For many of us, it was his voice that allowed us to endure being the troubled and "odd" teens at the time. Can't count how many times we'd copy copies of copied tapes over and over again to share with others in that underground scene. Back then you had to know someone, stumble into or seek blindly in the dark and unknown for this kind of music. We were very lucky to have discovered so much lovely music in the scene back then. Just the simple wonder and amazement of aquiring a new LP or demo tape from a show was the best high ever.
