This had better voice acting than most video games at the time. Very very impressive of 90s TSR.

Those audio adventures are a bit hit and miss imo. Some people do not like the read aloud bit in adventures, and this is even more of that. Also if you (like me) are not in an english speaking country, we usually do not play speaking english and the audio bits are just too much (and some players might not even understand what exactly is going on).

These were very expensive to produce and was one of the leading causes of TSR's downfall
@captcorajus
4 жыл бұрын
The big issue with TSR's downfall was entirely bad management. Dragon Dice was a big mistake and there were a ton of returns on them. In 1996 TSR had an amazing total sales of $40 million. Despite that they had no cash reserves. Random House returned a large number of NOVELS and Dragon dice inventory, and so with no cash, there was no way to pay Random House, so Random House, who was in control of TSR's production plate for their core books, (PHB, DMG, Etc) and refused to do any more work until TSR paid Random House what it owed them. But since they couldn't print any more books, they couldn't generate revenue... and were effectively out of business at that point.
@adampender2482

@@captcorajus not to mention the cash cows they just threw away like Planescape, and the comic books that were dropped after DC (?) refused to make Buck Rogers comics. Sad part was TSR had the money especially after 2nd Edition release to have in-house printing. I wonder at everything that was written but never printed.
@captcorajus

@@adampender2482 As I said... Mismanagement. Lorraine Williams apparently had stock in a CD company which is sort of what got the CD line rolling apparently. However, quite a few of the CD modules are pretty good. Its a shame that it was so poorly handled.
