Older people see it ball core as rehashing old tech while the younger ones are hyped up. But yeah, when I read the description I was like "That's just core magnets! They only tried to make it different." Still, Dragon Ball Core or Christmas Ball Core, we hope that you get it soon.

I assume people say matte is slippy or grippy based on hand temperature/clamminess. I believe older people (me and you 😁) have less oils in their skin and prefer gloss.

When I first read "ball core" I genuinely thought moyu just lost their minds and decided to make a vintage cube or something. I was almost excited to try out a cube that was going to be horrible, but it turns out that it's just corner to core magnets. Just reminds me of rubik's brand cubes

I don’t find matte plastic easier to grip, but I can’t say I ever notice it being harder either. I don’t have a insanely fast TPS but I’m certainly not slow. I’ve always found it interesting when people say they slip with matte, but I can see how. Definitely more friction on glossy.

Thanks for another great video, Shawn! I definitely feel in my experience that very frosted cubes like the Qiyi MS for example are VERY slippery feeling for me. Although I’ve also had glossy cubes fall out of my hands too, but I’d definitely say less often.

Thanks for clarifying the ball core thing, I also thought it was one of those old cores and wondering why they would do that.

I use a depth gauge for the screws. So, my setups are likely more precise than most. Sometime I should check a new cube to see if factory settings are all that great.

Hey SCR. You said the cube had matte on the cube. Moyu advertised that it was glossy so my question is, how matte is it? Is it matte like the 2020 rs3 or matte like the wrm maglev? (Please describe if different) Cuz for me the wrm maglev plastic didnt bother me.
@SpeedCubeReview
Жыл бұрын
The 2020 rs3 I believe was much glossier. This is not awfully matte but it is certainly not glossy. I don't quite remember how the WRm felt out of the box as the plastic does change after a few hundred solves. It's already much nicer to use after a couple days of solving.

There are grooves on the edge pieces on MoYu’s cubes. If you spread them with your thumbs and look, you should be able to see them and use them to adjust all sides until the groove is just poking out from under the centre piece. That ensures all faces to have even tension. Or you can disassemble your cube and use MoYu’s setup spacer tool; if it’s not a ball core version. Hope this helps!

I could not main my Gan 11m pro because I just prefered the feel of my 356 X. Also the 11 was only frosted when I got it and I hate the slippery feel. However I now main my Gan 12 maglev, I love it because my muscles aren't good and it's super easy to turn. Lighter than any other cube. After a bit of use and adjusting it never gives that catchy feel anymore. I can use it and not end up in pain which is a big plus. I do think maglev is mainly for really light turners out there, they do exist. With light turning the difference is more noticable. Nice vid, I'd love to see a follow up on what you think of maglev after a bit more use.

matte plastics are more slippery, like most of gan cubes have, i bought a gaming finger sleeves and it gives me a good grip on all of my matte finished cubes, nothing diff for uv because it already a good grip for uv
@TheMessyDeskxyz

Yeah I saw the term ball core and definitely cringed at why they picked it. Clearly they wanted to differentiate themselves from say the gan and no use the corner to core magnets terminology but ball core is not a good term to use… 😅 I think with your hands are very sweaty (or just kinda wet) the matte would be gripier than then the shiny/UV coated surface. I did prefer the matte surface more initially when I started cubing, but now I’ve come to prefer the shiny sleek finishes better.

The matte vs shiny thing is interesting. My gan 12 uv feels like it is constantly covered in some kind of oil or lube. and my gan 356 m feels like its really grippy. But if i drag my fingers across each of them, it tfeels like itakes more force to drag across the 12 uv than it does the 356 m

It was perfect for me. If it's the same tensions that you had it's what I prefer companies to send them out of the box. Basically, to the point where you could not force an edge out and if you spread the corner Andy edge apart you just barely see the end of the foot of the corner stock
