Play Outer Wilds. If you're unaware, Outer Wilds (Not Outer Worlds) Is a space exploration, puzzle, detective, open-world etc... It's very unique, I should say. Originally I was almost entirely sure Outer Worlds was going to be my game of the year, and it did, in fact, get 2nd place for me. However, after playing Outer Wilds, I was blown away. I assuming you haven't played it, or beaten it, as it didn't appear on here at all. Trust me when I say, it's worth it, its something I recommend you play blind, and it's on Xbox game pass, so you can play it like that. Thanks, love your content.

Fallen Order was a really good game, but it could have used a few months worth of polish. The game is incredibly buggy. I don't typically get bugs in video games even if they're known to be buggy, but this one was riddled with animation glitches, weird clipping, and just strange loading errors. If it weren't for that, I'd put this game among my favourites of all time. It's a fun game and it accomplishes what it wants to do. My biggest gripe with it besides the lack of polish was the enemy respawn mechanic. It works in a game like Dark Souls because it's a fantasy setting with magic, but for something more grounded like Star Wars, it's really bizzare to see the same Storm Troopers come back after you killed them not even a minute ago. There isn't really anything that necessitates this mechanic. It allows you to practice and farm XP, but I never found myself struggling so hard that I deliberately went to an area to grind XP, even on Jedi Master. The game was hard and I ended up stuck on a few boss battles, but it's not impossible. I wish they did away with the "bonfire" respawn mechanic. As for Outer Worlds, it shows that Obsidian is better at appropriating other people's IP than making their own. Nothing about this game is creative or even well done. The art direction is incredibly disgusting to look at. It is an ugly game that looks like it came out in 2007. Bioshock Infinite looks like a next-gen title by comparison. The animations look stiff and unnatural. The dialogue and writing seems like something you'd see on on r/writingprompts, and it just end up building a world you want to be a part of.

Yup, still waiting for the Dino Crisis remake, hopefully not for much longer. Wonderful job on the Retrospective btw. I have a couple of bones to pick with Fallen Order. It was a good game, a really good game, just not the game for me. First and foremost, it takes place between the two trilogies. Why should I be bothered to care about the story if I already know how certain events will unfold? Second, it takes the idea of respawning enemies from Dark Souls. However, the entire narrative of the Dark Souls franchise can be summed up in one word: Cycles, cycles of life and death, light and dark, happening back to back. The idea of having the characters come back to life only to die again makes sense from a narrative point of view, especially with magic involved. With Fallen Order however, living creatures respawn as well. How that actually works is beyond me. It's just another case of copying an idea from one franchise without actually thinking things through. Third, the punishment for death is also taken from Dark Souls. How does that work? Remember, cycles. It's not a theme in Star Wars in the same sense as it is in Dark Souls. How one loses literal EXP and how it stays in one place like a material being is once again, beyond me. Fourth, while I loved the exploration and the humongous maps, I really couldn't bring myself to travel for half an hour to get to a room, mowing skewering tens of enemies with a lightsaber that's weaker than my granny's broom, just for a different spaceship color. On a similar topic, the replay value in general wasn't that much. The game didn't strike me as rewarding. What I wanted was a different ending, lightsaber and fighting styles, and the ability to choose sides. This is the one instance where copying an idea from a Dark Souls game would have been a nice addition. In my view, it was a solid game that is artificially elevated above other solid games because of the words "Star Wars" in the title.
