This is much better than your other videos on indirect. There's different ways and applications to do indirect and this is really all you need to explain, the other videos were very much overkill IMO.

Awesome video! First 4 mins explained everything for me. I need to indirect move in the program I am currently doing. Will try it tomorrow. Thank you.

The only part i didnt get about this video is the stateoutput. Where was the state output on your controller tags?
@ShaneWelcher

It is indirectly pointed to the tag array

Great video thanks for sharing! StateArray is linked to StateOutput??? How to they related to each other???
@ShaneWelcher

In the video, I show exactly how they are linked. The Dint of the state is pointing to the value of the state array. Then uses everything in that section of the array

@@ShaneWelcher thanks for your reply. I have understood that bit of pointing to the array. However the "array" is = to StateArray not StateOutput. What I meant by that is How are StateArray tag linked to StateOutput tag?

I used a mov instruction

@@ShaneWelcher mov the whole array to another one? or just part of the array individually? thanks :)
@ShaneWelcher
2 жыл бұрын
@Bilal No, I'm not sure you're understanding my use case in this example. I don't show the state machine logic, I am showing how indirect addressing works. To describe the state machine I used, it's just one array. Then basically the current state points to that array to use the values of the array to control something by using the bits. The mov is just moving the Dint to Dint which has the state control in a structure text routine in this program. In other words, the Mov instruction that has the indirect addressing will move the result of the array value into the destination of the mov. The actual array can be used in several ways, either a simple one to one transition or a complex design to act as a control word. Similar to a VFD control word.

Hey Shane, I just found your channel!, great content and well explained info. Do you know a way for indirect adressing like this N[N7:0]:5 using RSLogix 5000?
@ShaneWelcher

That style indirect addressing works the same with one difference, the back decimal stays the same in the address.

@@ShaneWelcher let me explain myself, the variable N7 in bit 0 has a value of 188, so I want to use this value to obtain the value of the bit 5 in variable N188. Is this possible?
@ShaneWelcher
5 жыл бұрын
@@pedroemilianorusilesdacunh9139 The way you put it then it would be N188:5 But why don't you just try to test it live or emulate it to get a better idea. That would be easier for you.

sigit basmala Always happy to help out, I'm am trying to make this channel a place to go to help everyone learn as much as they would like to in the areas of PLC and HMI programming. If there is anything that you would like to see or an area of programming that you have questions then please feel free to drop me a comment or an email. Thanks, Shane
