Glad to see your RSX did not suffer too much damage and lived to see another day on the track. Have a old 240Z that is definitely showing its age with stress cracks in different places. Have a 2005 RSX Type-S that I think over the fall of this year might turn it into a track car. Is there a build thread for your car, will be out and stopping by Robs shop August 24 and staying in San Jose till the 26th. Are you anywhere around San Jose where I can check out your build?

Losing steering could be disastrous anywhere, but I stopped doing track days at Sonoma just because there is so little runoff over most of the course. Any "off" is likely to result in a wall collision.

I have gone off quite a few times at Sonoma. I have been 2 wheels off at turn 2, turn 3a, turn 4, turn 6, and turn 10 all on the exit runouts and each time was able to gather it back up. It’s more about the scale of how much you miss the corner, if you drive within your means and leave yourself margins of error you should be alright! Don’t drive faster than you’re comfortable with and be vigilant to flags and it ends up alright 👍 I do agree that if something really unfortunate happens, there’s no place to go. Such as this occurrence. Another thing is fluid down on the track, under any circumstance that you can’t really control there really is not many places to go. Sonoma is my favorite track but it can certainly be rough in that regard. Hopefully you come back out to it some day!

Glad you guys are good! Did you ever find out why the steering locked up?
@MilburnMotorsports

Steering wheel lock wasn't completely removed on the initial building of the car, and the pin slid into place by chance preventing me from steering

Man, so glad it happened on the cool down lap. As weird as this sounds, I am so glad this is when the faulty part revealed itself! Any other te could've likely ended a lot worse! I don't like the way I handle situations like this. I panic too easily.

Its never a fun situation when your car ends up getting smashed, I am glad it happened on the cooldown lap as well. Next video will be the rebuild!
