Has anyone used the razer blade as their daily driver for a considerable amount of time such as 3 years without issues? The razer reddit is flooded with users complaining that their laptop spoilt after only a year of use
@sturmeko
3 жыл бұрын
I have Blade 14 2015 model on 6th year now. 3 years were without issues, then battery became pretty weak, so I replaced it. After 4 years W button sagged and on X button paint started to peel off slightly, I was able to find buttons online for a few $ and replaced these. Then last year one fan started to sound weird, and I replaced both fans. I'm still pretty happy with it, I think same issues would happen to any laptop after years of heavy use. What I like is chassis, display hinges still perfect, body is perfect, no creaks or cracks anywhere like it would happen on a plastic laptop. So, when buying pretty expensive laptop already, I would pay extra couple hundred $ just for chassis, at least that's how I see it. Just spec wise it's overpriced of course.

Good video. Having owned some Razer products over the years, I never had one which worked as new for maximum of a couple of months. In my experience they are terrible terrible products. There is no competition between these two laptops. One you buy to own for and work for you for X amount of years, they other is a Razer. I have lost enough money buying Razer products. Even if I could afford a new computer right now, I wouldn't pay for a Razer even if it was at the same price as spec worse computers. As for not having AMD based gaming laptops. Any chance the issue might be that "lately" AMD require higher speed RAM to get the performance out? Again, that's from what I understand from the current situation. I haven't owned a AMD CPU since a Athlon 64 X2, or was it a Duron, anyway not in several years.

So which gaming laptop do you use now? I’m curious because I’m looking for a new gaming laptop for my son and you sound like you have owned a few, my son has only had one so far it was an ASUS rog strix that he literally played for three years straight until the plastic casing started popping off from heat but even after all that it still worked I turned it in for an insurance protection plan claim and without even asking us first they threw it away (said they couldn’t fix it) and offered him two really crappy msi replacement options. I’m still fighting with them about this.

@@AshlynSchaetzle I own 3 laptops, 2 gaming, but they are older models. I am not using them for gaming any more. I use a desktop PC, which I highly recommend. I can't give you recommendation for a new model to use as I haven't looked for one in years. If you are in Europe or close, I can recommend XMG. They are assembled in Germany and they are good products. My last heavy duty laptop was from them. In general it also depends on what performance you are looking for. I mean, what games you want to play. One thing to consider though, you will need to open up the laptop, clean it and replace the thermal paste/pads every couple of years at most. Else the laptop will overheat and it will be a matter of time till it can't take any more. Then you can end up with burned components, cracked chassis, etc. But yea, I definitely recommend a desktop PC. cheaper, better performing, easier to repair and upgradable so that if something can't be fixed, it can easily be replaced.

I got razer blade 15 base 2020 3 weeks ago and............ And the 2021 does not even has improvements other than a new GPU And Dolby THX I had the worst experience freaking 3 replace and still things are worst First Week First Replacement: Battery, Fan and charger pin Issue. The battery overcharged and heated up at idle so much that the processor was confused "should I heat up or the battery???" and the fan issue was that as soon as you move your laptop from one place to another the fan started making ticking noises and the plastic coating on the pin had some barely visible scratches like you put the pin on a floor and grab a heavy piece of rock and hit it few times and then clean it up with a cloth how will it look like? this is how exactly it was looking like but only the plastic coating the pin was hope fully good. Second Week Second Replacement: Hinge Issue and speakers issue so as the laptops is a fingerprint magnet because of the texture on it you have to clean it time by time and I can live with the because of the beauty it offers but almost every other thing about this laptop sucks I was cleaning this laptop and I wiped my cloth on the hinge of the laptop and heard a crackling noise "What's that?" I wiped it again and the same crackling noise so I decided to return this tomorrow as it was night and I had an idea that I should also test out the rest of the things like battery, speakers, keyboard, trackpad etc so the battery was perfect keyboard and trackpad had no problem but when I came to speakers another story begin the right speaker had 26% lower volume than the left one and even on a low volume the speaker was making a weird noise and had way less bass than the left one the fan issue was also resolved, 2 issues gone 2 issue came wow what an excellent job razer! keep up this ****** work with every laptop you make!!! and this issue was not only present in 1 laptop or 2 laptop in 3 laptops that I've tested so far and I know there will be soo many more laptops that will have different issues just like the 2019 models had what improvements did you made? making the right Shift key bigger? that was already bigger in the 2018 model that was your improvement? Third Week Third Replacement: Another Shiny looking laptop Another Shinny Unboxing Another WTF Same Speaker Issue but this time had little more sound than the previous one this time around 20% and the same hinge crackling little bit stiffer than before because the in the previous one I could barely feel it even if you put a short amount of weight and one more issue got present it's the right fan (GPU Fan) It's loose If you move the laptop a little bit the right fan make sound like there is something like a piece of plastic stuck in it I don't if if it's something els the battery is not the issue in this one and the previous on it was only a problem in the first one but one thing to keep in mind is that there are no standers of a battery capacity as I've tested the batter in every laptop and they all hade different capacity like the second one has gone to 72 watts after doing a full charges from 25% to 100% this one has just got to 66.5W and it is fixed there the first one had got to over 78W and then next day fall to 54W and every razer laptop I've found yet has a battery life of 1- 1 hours and 50 minutes with a normal use on just web browsing on chrome and when you do stuff like photo shop, primer pro or just play Microsoft Solitaire the battery last around 45 to 53 minutes and shows the battery warning that is defaultly set to 10% low battery and 5% critical if you chose every settings default like you just simply installed the windows that comes with razer and you don't mess around with the setting which is also called "Factory Settings" I'm just a normal guy not a "Reviewer" or anything I'm just sharing how I've been treated by razer and I know The time that have gone wasted and that struggle I don't think any actions would be taken on me because simply they don't care. A great lesson from razer🙁

I appreciate that you do sound tests, but it would be great if you can show a section of various genres (including Jazz and Rock and Metal) as different styles sound differently on different speakers.
@MatthewMoniz

Honestly sound tests are sorta pointless I only do it so you can hear the volume or depth difference. I think spending time playing different types of music would be pointless since you’ll never actually here what the speakers truly sound like unless you’re listening to them in person.

Maybe the Razer looks like a premium laptop with high quality build, but it breaks really easy. They have poor quality control.

Ref Battery life, I have a Razer 15 base 1660TI. Battery life can be improved massively through optimization in windows and other minor tweaks. There are a lot of battery hungry background apps. I went from 2hrs of battery life to 6.5hrs + (general work tasks, browsing, playing vids) Ok, still not ultrabook levels but fine for a gaming rig IMHO.

hey Matt, My ASUS ROG laptop motherboard died, its being repaired right now and my brothers Lenveo legion is reaching its limit(2018 model). I want to give my ASUS laptop to him when its out of the shop and get myself the Razer Laptop. I have razer gear for my rig and I thought just going on all out on the blade? Is it a good idea or just get something cheaper(need a laptop for mobile gaming and school work)

These Intel CPU's are way hotter and now slower in everything comparing to ryzen 5000 mobile which boost to 4.8ghz. I hope they launch Amd variant or I'll buy an Asus model that does...

6:34 - yeh just got a blade 15 and really like ot but the battery life unplugged is abysmal. I noticed in open hw monitor that the GPU seems to draw power even when it GPU not in use (on avg. Bewteen 6w -15w) and i think this is what contribute to such bad battery life when unplugged. Currently in talks with razer rep working on some troubleshooting. Hope there is a solution to it ( rather than outright disabling the GPU when it's not needed)

I am 100% AMD now and will not be returning to Intel in the medium term. Best move I did with great battery life and performance when I need it and does not burn my lap when doing a Window's update. The AMD 5000 series should be even more enticing?

So the reason to buy the razer in this matchup is only because of the QHD display and speakers and build but if you're after qhd get the asus scar which has a qhd and cooler amd cpu, shocking and insane no AMD option in razer

What on earth was Razer thinking with the 65wh?? They built it light and thin it's clearly the choice if you want to carry it around. Also I can't believe there's no Ryzen model at all. I don't think 30 series GPU is enough reason to get this generation of laptops at all. I guess Asus is gonna rake it in if they get their production to catch up

I think the only reason razer keeps getting business is their influencer sponsorships and their.. 'optics' in more than one sense of the word. They are always overpriced. Their peripherals don't last longer than any other company's. They're not really ever the best option.

I'm probably going Razer for the simple fact that I have an Alienware 15 R3 with a 1070 GTX in it that I'd like to sell while it's still worth some cash . . . Add to that the fact that the 15G doesn't come with Thunderbolt (have to go to the 17G for that), and it makes the Razer a bit more appealing to me. I'd probably still buy the Auros 17G over it, if I could find it anywhere to pre-order with a 3080.

Hello, I am debating on whether to get the Alienware M15 R4 or the razor blade 15 which you reviewed. My question is does the razor have a glossy screen or is it matte. I really want a QHD screen as i do computer animation and 4K makes some of my applications fonts too small. The Alienware has their 4K oled but at 60fps. I don’t do any gaming only content creation.
