I got it by mashing F5 at launch. Got one in my cart at Best Buy and kept refreshing the cart. It would fail and pop up an “out of stock” message each time but the card was still in the cart. I kept hitting checkout for like 2 minutes straight and it finally went through to the payment screen. Unfortunately I’ve heard they changed the site behavior and now if you checkout on an out of stock item, it gets removed from your cart. I wish I’d have been screen recording it, would have made for an epic video! I don’t get sent cards, I haven’t done any sponsored videos yet. It ran fine for me at stock, but was a bit warm for my tastes, was sitting around 75c and boosting to ~1950mhz. Nvidia GPU Boost is dynamic though, so in different conditions it may try to boost higher at default settings. That said, I haven’t used it a whole ton at default settings. It never did crash when I was testing at stock though, and when I set boosts to 2000mhz RDR2 would crash about instantly, so I think it should be ok.

Until the evga arrives, my current issue is I cant get the card past 50% utilization during gameplay. There is nothing else to update. Nothing else to install, reinstall. I've ran ddu. I've reinstalled windows, the bios has been updated on the mobo. Etc. I have a 3070, that has zero troubles. Runs top. But my 3080's have so many problems. I even got a new pc after the second 3080. Corsair liquor cooled, corsair 850w gold psu. My other build is the same except a 3070 & 16gb ram. My 3070 games WAY better and mines more stable than my 3080. 3080 will lhr lock regardless the settings. Which is also frustrating and I wasn't able to game until I started locking the volts on the 3080. But now I can't get past 30-50% utilization on the gpu. Meanwhile the cpu is running 40-60% utilization. I don't get it.

It sounds like you are doing something wrong, but I have no idea what though. Is it in every game? Some particularly CPU heavy games will be CPU limited in some situations even with a 3080. Please 3080 owners, do NOT use third party software to "fix" your card or accept a V-BIOS nerfing. Take the card out of your PC and start the RMA process, now. Force the maker's hand.
@jiehfeng

Would RMA work? I mean, if you get a replacement, the replacement may very well have the same issue. I think we should wait a few days, there will probably be a driver fix or some sort of compromise.

Idk if they would even do an RMA, it doesn’t crash if you aren’t overclocking over 2000mhz
@AliasNotInUse

This is an overclock in the end .. be it done by manufacturer or by user and as any overclock it is not guaranteed to always be stable. Not sure if they can even legally take responsibility for an unstable overclock. I think of it like internet/ internet speed that almost never runs at the speed that I pay for or is working all the time. If anything we should petition manufacturers to be more explicit in specs that they plaster everywhere so we know what we pay for :)) (unstable overclocks).

I agree, cause this is a hardware issue and not a software. But, if "recalling" is the way to go, then I am not sure if these AIB manufacturers will do that, cause you combine with low stock, and costing more money........ Don't think they will follow through in replacing your card. The only way to fix this issue is downclocking your 3080.
@JamesSmith-sw3nk

@@fpshooterful You could be right. It also probably depends on the card partner. My personal experience with Sapphire (Sent me a higher tier AMD card as a warranty replacement) & Evga's customer service has been great. (Evga replaced my PSU when it died 1 month after the warranty was up, the customer rep said: "Close enough.") Other companies have next to no customer service in my experience. (Gigabyte).

@@JamesSmith-sw3nk Ya, i had a really good experience with EVGA. I would probably rate them as number 1 when it comes to customer service and MSI for 2nd. The cards will run, no probs, at their out of the box stated mhz. Its the "too agressive" automatic boost which is pushing the cards into unstable territory. Some reach unstable earlier due to the caps used. So the card is ok, just cant overclock as much as it thinks it can. Which would mean you wouldnt get a replacement.

There is wrong information within this video. It’s from cards that have 5 or 6 POSCAP layouts and 1 MLCC. 2+ MLCC layouts are working fine. Please do more research before jumping to conclusions. You’ll notice ASUS has a 6 MLCC layout. They did this for the least interference.

The anomaly here is that we don’t have proper information on these crashes and if they’re overclocking their cards too much or have inadequate components on their computer. The majority has been 1/5 0/6 layouts.

Gerald Smith - I checked it out, so it was in a new prebuilt PC? You should be able to have them replace it. If you had upgraded an existing PC I would say it may be the power supply. Either way that doesn’t look like quite the same thing as the crashing that the driver update fixed. Those folks were having the game crash to the desktop, it didn’t turn off the PC or break the card. Sometimes there are just bad cards, or it could have been something else like the PSU that failed 🤷♂️ hard to say exactly without troubleshooting.
