Willy, I've been a ship engineer for thirty years. The first image is the exhaust with the turbo charger removed. This is standard for an engine overhaul. The next image is a cylinder head removal with the cylinder liner and piston shown. It looks like he's poking a hole in a crust on top of the pistol. My guess is this vessel has direct sea water cooling through the jacket water side, which was common on older vessels. It looks like a cylinder liner failed, allowing water into the cylinder. It's not a death sentence for the engine. With the parts, a full overhaul could be completed in 2 weeks as long as no bearing journals were damaged. It does speak of a bigger corrosion issue. All engines would need to be inspected for similar problems including piping and cathodic protection if it has it. At very least all the anodes are gone. You see this kind of failure with lack of maintenance, inspections, and new crews. Edit: I didn't realize this was claimed sabotage. To me it just looks like corrosion from sea water. If you want to sabotage a vessel and have engineroom access there are easier and better ways. I call BS on this claim. I worked in the Black Sea on the Glomar Explorer for 6 months in 2005. The high sulfur content of the water there was not kind to our sea water pipe work.

The EU’s outgoing top diplomat says Kiev could lose the conflict with Russia in two weeks if left on its own: The Ukraine conflict could be over in 15 days if the West stopped supporting Kiev, outgoing EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has predicted. In an interview with the Spanish news outlet 20minutos published on Monday, the diplomat signaled that while “many” want the conflict to end as soon as possible, Ukraine’s Western backers won’t be happy with it ending on Russia’s terms. According to Borrell, if the EU and US suddenly stopped helping Kiev, Ukraine would be forced to capitulate. Slovak prime minister (Robert Fico) - the fighting “continues only because it is being strongly supported by the West.” “The sooner it ends, the better it will be,” he added, arguing that Western efforts to use the conflict to inflict a defeat on Russia will fail. “Everyone thinks that through Ukraine we will bring the Russians to their knees, but this Russophobia does not work. It turns out that this problem cannot be solved militarily,” Fico stated. Zelensky has tough choices to make, and if he gets them wrong the situation may spiral out of control. How can the army achieve new victories when the core of motivated veterans is running low and is being replaced by demoralized and poorly trained draftees? What can be done about the Kursk operation, which is becoming more trouble than it’s worth? How to compensate for the apparent lack of supplies from abroad? How to motivate the West to stay in the game for ‘as long as its takes’? Russia’s main goal in Ukraine is not territorial gains but the beginning of a strategic dialogue with the West, which would lead to an end to NATO’s eastward expansion. The West and Kiev either do not yet want to accept this, or genuinely don’t understand the Russia’s motives. But if they are serious about dialogue, Russia’s interests will have to be taken into account. Otherwise, any peace initiative will be doomed to failure.

The soldiers are buying additional gear that they need on top of the government issued one. And here comes the big difference - the Russians that are joining the army can afford it due to these big bonuses. I am not saying that all of them do this, but being at the front and getting the understanding what you lack as gear you have the money to do it. Better armor, additional toys and trinkets for your AK (silencers, optics, sights, NV etc), better boots, clothes - name it. And these money remain in the Russian economy as for the last 2 years the private companies that produce such gear are booming. Additional benefit for them is the live feedback from the front lines that allows them to make constant improvements and innovations. In the long run this would allow them to expand their business as selling combat tested effective equipment is always a good advertisement and strong selling point.

Except some of these activities are really contributing to the value of the goods. Other not. Some are even parasitic in nature (you need a lawyer because you can't understand the laws created by the lawyers, sound like protection racket to me). In the west we count everything. We can't cope the industrial production of Russia which count as 2% of the western countries in term of GDP. Our GDP is an illusion, an illusion upon which we built our debts.

@@ad-ko5iy at this point this is the way to spot people who have absolutely no idea about economics - they focus so much on GDP alone (many are even outright rejecting even PPP as a tool). A service-based economy might have massive GDP, but the slightest change of wind can cause it to crash and burn in a matter of few years. On the other hand a robust economy based on production with lots of resources, and most importantly - big industrial base, can weather a lot of hits. Even though Russia suffered A LOT and was thought to have lost their industrial capacity in the '90-ies, proved more resilient not only compared to select few european countries, but to the whole EU. Or if we go back to the financial crisis in 2008 look which countries recovered fastest - USA and Germany, two highly industrialised countries which rushed to help their industries (mainly the automobile producers), meanwhile Greece crashed, and half of the EU was close to crashing. As americans used to brag - Russia has half the GDP of California. Well, can California feed 150 million people - as in even produce that much and diverce food + export tens of millions tons of grain for the whole world, give its citizens free and high-quality healthcare and education, wage a successful war against a 50-million nation backed and armed by the whole NATO, and survive an economic war against the whole West? So if they are doing in peacetime, and Russia is offering that during war time, what does that say about the US? If they are paying well to keep the barracks full and no one is complaining, I think that is a smart deal. The assassination of Denys Kereyev may be more related to his being on the negotiating team in favour of closing a deal with Russia before the escalation of war went further. Remember that at that time, they were very close to having a deal, and Boris Jhonson travelled to Kyiv to tell Zelensky to continue the war and that NATO would back him. Even if he was a spy, have they ever presented any proof? Why not take him to trial if he was? Having a trial would show the world Kyiv's “Western” values. And who would believe that killing someone with a shot in the head in a van and throwing his body in the middle of the street would transpire as a work well done by counterintelligence? On the contrary, it shows that the people who performed it were hurrying to do the job. This looks again like the Nordstream mess. You first act in whatever way to achieve your goals, then cover up afterwards with a narrative that best suits you.

Just as a heads up PPP calculations generally - or at least should - allow for the differential costs of services other costs such as rents as well, not just the cost of a standardised 'basket' of goods. Calaculations are necessarily imperfect but are as good a generalised guide as we have. In countries with free or heavily subsidised healthcare or utilities or tightly regulated housing markets (or large amounts of subsidised social housing) these factors can actually make up a large part of the PPP differences.

According to your mate, Sirsky, Russia has doubled the number of tanks deployed in the field, and has a 14 to 1 artillery advantage, with the disparity steadily increasing. Add to this, the lack of Ukrainian air power and air defence compared to the Russian air power and excellent air defence systems, plus the greatly increased production and use of guided bombs by the Russians and the superiority of their missiles, both in number, and effectiveness. That, is without considering the vastly different situation where troop numbers and quality are concerned. Western aid has been steadily shrinking due to financial constraints and a lack of military stockpiles and production capabilities, plus shifting political support, with Western politicians increasingly wary of openly opposing the will of the majority of their populations, who have no argument with Russians, nor any interest in fighting with them. This, has been a war of propaganda lies for NATO countries, and they have been forced to totally control the mainstream media, silencing any dissenting voice, in order to maintain the illusion of both justification for the slaughter, and the pretence they will win. At what point, will you be willing to publicly concede Ukraine and NATO have been defeated? When the Russians take Pokrovsk? Kiev? Lvov? Boris Johnson's head?

@@JMLtube1 I'll grant that, your is a kind of stupid I rarely encounter. How, you can have missed that, NATO funded and organised the 2014 coup, putting Zelensky's puppet government in place instead, of the legitimate, democratically elected government, escapes me. Equally, I fail to see, you can be unaware that, Ukraine was ready to sign a peace deal with Russia in 2022, but NATO insisted they fight. Even more astonishing is that you fail to understand, Ukraine couldn't have fought Russia at all without, massive funding and equipment from NATO, and that the fighting would have been over long ago if, NATO had stooped sending weapons and ammunition to stoke the flames. What is most perplexing is that clearly, you have zero knowledge of international law, thus fail to grasp that, every action NATO has taken in this conflict, (and most others), is utterly illegal under international law. In short, Ukraine is not fighting Russia. They are being used a cannon-fodder by the US corporate criminals and their Euro-puppets, - all, secretly controlled by people of a certain religion. The US is not, a democratic country, nor are European countries. They employ a sham democratic system to dupe the public into compliance, but they are not, representative in any way except, of the sick, amoral criminals that own them. NATO is an aggressive, expansionist military organisation, hell-bent on controlling the entire world. With people as naive and ill-informed, as you are, their task will be easy. I suggest, you get an education in geopolitics from a neutral source.

Shady a/f the Kirayev thing. Remeber looking into it at the time. Even Budanov words about him added more mystery rather than clarity. My reading is some forces either within Ukrainian intelligence or possibly directed by an outside power were concerned that a peace deal might be made and moved decisively to not just stop Kirayev but also send a warning to anyone else who might be thinking about it. Tragic thing of course is that Budanov suggests Kirayev was merely playing for time, but others may have been worried that he was sincere. Who knows? Damn Easterners and their Byzantine machinations.... Anyway, just speculation but feels to me like at least a plausible interpretation

the warhead of the D-30SN is smaller then 250KG. its a weapon similar to the GBU-39 SDB. warhead weight 90-110KG. because it is a weapon in a similar weight class, as well as a similar physical size. we can assume the range of the D-30SN is going to be similar to that of the GBU-39. around 110-120KM when air dropped at optimal altitude and speed. around 150KM if launched by rocket from the ground at optimal angle. when it first was reported as having an engine, this was simply a mistranslation. it can be mounted on top of a rocket. similar to the Ground Launched version of the GBU-39 called "GLSDB" it can be fired from a 300MM rocket launcher like the BM-30 Smerch or Tornado-S/G. (this is why there is that D-30 in the name. it designates the 30CM wide body when all wings are folded)

All one country need to survive in essence is to have control over food, water and its energy resources. Russia is definitely on the winning side in this equation, hence why they will be able to sustain themselves in the war of attrition between west and them (Ukraine lost this war long time ago) - now they’re just providing foot soldiers for nato!

Ukraine has done copious amounts of intell ops where they have tried to get russians as assets but have then abandoned the russians after they have pretended to comply. For example many fires have been reported falsely, even at russian state news just to make it appear SBU had succesfull recruiting, after which alleged assets have been abandoned. Short sighted and it has made future operations close to impossible and they have proved to russians that ukrainians are not their brothers anymore.

@Uberlei_

Usually they’re left to fight until the last moment and they either retreat under fire or get pulled out under fire because they’re already retreating. Basically they get sent in a direction and that’s about the extent of their planning.

Optics, honestly. Its all about perceptions. Their overall goal failed in that area, so they're just making the most out of it while they can by suggesting their continued presence is a result of Russian struggles to remove them. Failures right now, blatant failures that can't be easily hidden or spun, are being avoided because of elections here in the US. Ukrainian failures, means Biden/Harris administration failures. Might also just be buying time for another costly push towards the NPP in Kursk, if not to capture, then to threaten/increase success chances of anything sent at it.
