i found one once in utah and i agree, they are so docile and nice and just softly rap around your hand. They act like they dont even know youre there.

You are such a great dad introducing your son to wildlife and encouraging him to be kind to snakes. They are very misunderstood. I hope he caught a nice vole after you let him go!

I go herping once a week on the Olympic peninsula and always find an alligator lizard, but have never seen one of these in person. Such cute and interesting little snakes. What's the habitat around your farm like? I noticed alligator lizards like being in clearings with salal close to the tree line, and gater snakes like marshes and hill sides that get direct sun.

I find they really like areas with lots of food.;) and warmth… near a compost pile were moles and voles like to stay worm in the winter. Under my tarps we use for the garden…. I have found them near gater as well

Yep they have harder hand than most men! Half from playing hard, half from working with me;)

The only snake I'd ever keep as a pet, they need more folks captive breeding these so that they're not taken from the wild. Must be the most docile snake there is, and that's a wild snake and look at how docile it is. I can't find anywhere where anyone has ever been bit by one.

Yeah they are really amazing we all love to find them! We make sure we put them in a safe place close to where we found them.
