Tesaran and Jundana are two young musicians in Makasar with completely different characters and musical styles, one is expereimental and the other is traditional. Tesaran explores electronic sounds by utilizing simple musical equipments like small melodica toy and creates intensity. Ahmad Jundana came from a family with Makasar traditional music background. His father is Hasan Daeng Ramma, a “gandrang” maker specialist and also a musician for traditional Bugis-Makassar.
Both Tesar and Junda are active in their own scene, and during this expedition were put together in a process of creating a musical collaboration; two different characters in one stage making musical dialogues in order to find a new style and expression.
It is important to do this event and document it since as a multicultural city,Makasar needs to have an open collaborative process. In Makasar, there is not enough space that focuses on creating collaborative styles from different genres of contemporary era. Noise music which is mainly inaccessible by public collaborates with traditional gandrangMakasar has opened a new possibility tobe bolder in experimenting with aesthetics that are more representing contemporary music.
