I'm glad that there still about. The recent game against Swansea RFC brought back happy memories, The Spirit of Swansea rugby remains At The St Helens ground, Swansea. Where Sir Gary Sobers hit 6 sixes against Glamorgan. As A kid I was lucky enough to watch and fall in love with the 1989 All Blacks beat my home town convincingly. As A kid the All Whites played The Barbarians every Easter. Like Llanelli always played London Welsh every Boxing Day. Better times. That try, John Dawes made that try. Benny luckily escaped Alistair Scown!

The Barbarians concept is great, but in the professional era the concept is tougher to continue. Until 1995, international fixtures were far fewer in frequency, compared to now. So a cap for the Barbarians against an international team was very highly prized. Whereas now the chances to play international rugby are greater compared to before 1995. Great documentary, thanks for uploading it

Makes me wish that rugby had only gone semi-pro. The only players who should be paid, out of gate receipts, are those playing an international.

Is it just me or is (or was) rugby more for the gentry and well to do (listening to the way the ex-players where talking they sounded very well to and quite a bit more upmarket then most other players) as opposed to the game here in South Africa where it's very much a middle working class game

in the UK (England) it is the private schools that predominantly play, hence the posh accents and revelations that the players are Doctors, lawyers etc. Meanwhile in countries like NZ - everyone plays, especially the farmers hence the AB's record of having tough, strong forwards - working on a farm's hard yakka. Meanwhile in Oz you have to go to the right primary school which leads to the right high school then play for the right club i.e. Randwick before you would be considered for the Wallabies

Rugby was invented at Rugby school, an English public school, i.e, a private, fee-paying school.
