One argument for the magazine disconnect safety is that if you get in a struggle over the gun and feel as though you are losing it, you can drop the mag and let him have the gun. You can go after him and not worry about getting shot. Just an argument I read in an article I read years ago.

Maybe, but that is such an absurdly improbable scenario, that it doesnt warrant serious consideration. I'd much rather have the ability to load single rounds, if needed. Very impressed with the gun however I wish it had come with the Hogue grip. The Finish lacks a bit on the slide as well. I love the mag disconnect on my LC9S. Several of my guns have them. I have no fantasies of needing to do a tactical reload in the middle of an already highly unlikely shootout and needing that one round in the second it takes me to put another mag in. Maybe a highly trained Navy SEAL would have the ability to not only keep track of the rounds he is fired in the middle of a gunfight, but the dexterity to execute a tactical reload under that immense pressure. It’s Mall Ninja nonsense to think you can.
@Radvous

The reason I don't like it is because it is the only thing keeping your gun working, if you loose it or drop it, you're screwed. Imagine pointing your gun at a bad guy after you lost your mag, and now you're screwed.
@kbm-zw5jd
Жыл бұрын
@@Radvous 30 years of carrying a gun and that’s never happened. And even if it did, now I have a one shot pistol and the slide doesn’t lock open, requiring two hands to get working again. There have been many documented cases of mag disconnects saving lives. It’s why they were so popular among cop guns in the 90’s. And many more we’ll never know about since a shot not fired when you didn’t want one to doesn’t make the news. In the unlikely event you can point to ONE case where they were an impediment, I’ll show you hundreds where they weren’t. It’s mall ninja nonsense. To think that you will not only have the presence of mind in the already extremely highly unlikely event you are in a shooting, to know you’re running low on ammo, and then have the manual dexterity to drop the partially empty mag, and get that second mag in the gun without fumbling it or dropping it, and then in those brief moments that the mag is out that you’re gonna need that one round, is laughable. If anything, tactical reloads are done from cover anyway. And my LC9-S can easily drop the slide by pressing the slide lock. I usually don’t use the lock as a release, though. I was taught sling shot and the little extra forward momentum means a fully seated round, although I know the release method works 99.9% of the time. I just locked the slide open and pressed the slide lock and it released the slide no problem. I’d say yours might need to be broken in but I surely don’t have 1000 rounds through mine so yours is broken in more than mine. Maybe it’s a design change between the LC9-S and the EC9-S. Point is moot for me, though. I don’t carry a spare magazine. If 8 shots doesn’t do it I guess I’m screwed. A 5 shot J frame was enough for me for years so I figure a 60% increase in firepower is enough. I do carry my Shield Plus a lot too. 10 round magazine. 13 round makes the grip too long and for me, size and weight matter in a carry gun.

Some points: MSRP? BACK-UP to what? Are you LEO? In Philadelphia PD we were forbidden to carry a back-up. RACKING. How difficult/easy is it to rack? This is an ignored problem in today’s smaller, lighter autos. EXTERNAL SAFETY. I've never understood the aversion to the safety on an automatic. I carried a 1911 to and from work when I rode my motorcycle in plainclothes-with the safety on. If anyone believes the safety is useless, then simply don’t use it. But if it’s there, I'm certainly going to use it. I never carry anything until I'm proficient in the gun's manual of arms. Now retired, I carry a Colt Mustang with one in the chamber, the hammer uncocked, and the safety engaged. I'm trained to snap the safety off and cock the hammer as I draw the gun and acquire the target. I believe the biggest stumbling block to civilian concealed carry is lack of sufficient training. We went through a yearly day at the range, outside of any off-duty firing we chose to add, and many of us fired several times a year. Whatever it is you intend to do-ride a motorcycle, carry a gun, walk a tightrope, run a marathon…you'd better train to be proficient, or else abandon the activity. Otherwise, the consequences can be life-changing, and not for the good.
@VertigoRoses

a few answers based on my experience with the firearm: 1. MSRP was down to around $250 a few years ago, i bought it last month for $380 including tax. 2. The slide is extremely easy to rack compared to many other firearms ive handled. i have a smaller frame and its my favorite so far due to the ease of the slide lock. 3. i also like the external safety and see no reason not to like it. in fact i avoid firearms that have no external safety as i prefer to carry with a round chambered, safety on.

this gun would often fail to feed. if not 100% reliable it is useless. Sent back to Ruger once and they reported no issues. From day one this gun has been a loser for me at least. If u want a gun that fires EVERYTHING EVERYTIME buy a CZ@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_.

My CZ 75 Compact has never had a fail to feed since purchase in 2018. All steel version and reasonably priced around $600. This is only MY opinion but I have many more guns. Smith Wesson, Colt, Taurus and all good stuff but NOTHING beats my CZ@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_.
