Mr. Phillips, I am using Inkscape software for stereology as a part of my thesis; I wanted to thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge, as I have found your videos the most instructive and helpful since I started as a complete novice, and I have spent many hours watching many videos, you will not see my thesis, but I will mention your name among the many helpful people along my journey, with gratitude.

Thank you sooo much for this tutorial. I was pulling out my hair trying to design a small marked paper ramp to help focus a hobby laser, I don't know how I would have done it without your tutorial.

Thank you! I absolutely love this! I’ve been trying to draw a quilting square by hand! Your method is brilliant! Will be so much better and accurate!

hi You have so many good ideas, do you think it is possible to make a French curve ruler in inscape. I have drawn one myself, but am not quite sure that the measurements are correct. just an idea, for pattern construction

Hello there.... Could you please show me how to arrange different objects on a shape...like the blend tool in illustrator...

When you draw your line it says height is 0mm. The height of my line has a set height and can't be reduced to zero. Just curious if that matters?? Also when I make the ruler the length of my line increases by a fraction. If I change the size back to say 50 mm even, the ruler is not in proportion anymore. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Great video by the way. Very helpful

Hi. It sounds like you may have "Visual boundary box" set in preferences, which includes the width of lines in object dimensions. I prefer the setting "Geometric boundary box". Go to EDIT/Preferences/Tools to change your setting to Geometric boundary box.

Hi I've created a ruler from watching your video, but when I print the ruler I've made out, its measurements are not accurate. Verified with a metre ruler and 2 tape measures to confirm. Why are the mm not real mm when I print the ruler out? Thanks

Perhaps you need to set your printer options to "No scaling" when the print dialog appears. I assume you are printing from within Inkscape?

@@geoffphil thanks Geoff, yes I'm using inkscape to design the ruler. Where is the no scaling option? I assumed if I set the ruler to mm it would print out to be mm. If you could explain the steps I need to take to get my ruler accurate, that would be amazing? Thanks

@@geoffphil ok I'm on the printer preference settings, layout. There is a "specify size scale to %" . This was set to 97%. If I change this to 100% is this what will fix it? Thanks

@@drgym2010It looks like you have found the solution. Did changing the printing setting to 100% fix the problem?

@@geoffphil I've just printed a test piece ruler off and it's bang on with the measurements now. Thanks for your help, I would have been searching for ages to find an answer if I hadn't seen your video. Thanks again 😊👍
