Thank you for posting this! I was recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit, and so had great difficulty learning the rules by reading it from the book. This helps greatly! THANK YOU!

I am very glad it was useful to you. One of the reasons I do these videos is because when I started playing I really had problems getting my head round the rules for all the different games, so needed people to explain it to me. So these videos are something I wish I'd had back then. Many thanks for the kind words, it's good to be appreciated.

@@RPGGamer Would you mind posting a video on magic rules, and another for the matrix? Also, would you consider posting a video of you running a Shadowrun RPG using Zoom, Discord or one of the many Virtual Table Tops?

I've played all versions and have to say my two favourites are 1E and Anarchy. A nice overview and now I want to dig out my old book and get it back to the table. I loved playing as a burnt out mage.

1st Edition got so many things right straight out the door. And while sometimes the rules work a bit better, and sometimes they've changed the world so it makes more sense given advancing technology. I do miss some of the elements that they abandoned as they moved on. Great game.

@@RPGGamer I was amazed when CGL released the 2050 guide for Anarchy. I like it for one shots but 1st for campaigns.

@@RPGGamer I have a doubt tho, how many squares does a success fill (I'm talking about the dies that actually surpass the target number)? does the letter in the damage code says how much squares do I have to distribute per successs? I'm having quite of a trouble with the distribution of the damage. And, another doubt is does the automatic successes of the armor always reduce the damage? I was having a combat testing with an npc with a lined coat and it was so god damn hard to just harm him. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not. If you read this thank you, I'm a guy who is very interested in this game and world and want to dm someday so I can try 2nd edition. PS: Sorry if I have some grammatical mistakes, I'm not an English native speaker :(

@@trenchfoot243 The letter code of the damage tells you how many boxes of damage get filled in, so a L (light wound) does 1 box, M (Moderate) does 3, S (serious) does 7, and D (deadly) does all 10. Armour in 1st Edition is auto successes against damage. And yes, it makes damaging targets pretty hard. But remember damage can be taken above Deadly (Deadly +1, Deadly +2, etc.) by rolling well on the skill roll, so can defeat armour if you're good enough with a gun. 2nd Edition made combat a lot more deadly.

I never cared for Shadowrun personally.

Not every game is for every person, there's plenty of games I personally can't be bothered with. But I have been a fan of Shadowrun since it was released.

I feel I must correct you. Shadowrun isn't FASA's Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is watered down Shadowrun.

While I appreciate the sentiment (I've played Shadowrun since 1989), I would be remiss if I wasn't "that guy" on the internet who pointed out that Cyberpunk was released the year before Shadowrun, so unless there were some time travel shenanigans going on . . . .

I'd forgotten they'd made Shadowrun miniatures, I've got some of those somewhere, professionally painted up, but I prefer theatre of the mind games, so never used them in play. Very much up to the players if they prefer using mini's and maps to show where everyone is in combat.

You could also use the DMZ (Downtown Militarized Zone) boxed game to integrate with Shadowrun 1e. Miniatures could be used to supplement the card stock figures that came with DMZ.

The rules didn't make complete sense, but they had a rawness to them which I liked, but there was definite room for improvement.
