Do you or have you ever run commuted, or even (literally) run errands? Let us know in the comments! I know you could all tell, but I filmed this video several moths ago and am just now releasing it. 👊🏼

Proud to say yes I have run commuted, usually to town, but I don't typically log on Strava as a commute, probably should.

I am mostly worried about how to carry stuff. A big backpack looks uncomfortable. Kofuzi once did a review of one that looked alright. Do you have tipsfor running packs that can hold a change of clothing?

Great vid Matt, I really enjoyed this upload. I have a new appreciation for them since watching your vid on camera placement and repetition of recording, editing etc. I run to gym twice a week, about 10km return. Other gym goers think I'm crazy but I love it.

My commute to work would be 13 miles. I actually plan to run home an evening or two however the weather has been awful and dark nights makes it more difficult and unsafe. Also, no changing or showering facilities :(
@its_Matt_B_

13 miles just seems a tad too far to run commute, especially in the winter when it’s dark so early, although I’m sure there are people who do it. Yeah, no changing/showering facilities makes it a lot less than convenient!

Nice, love the run home !🤣 In an ideal world where all is perfect... I'd be running several Ultra marathons every day, I mean I love running but... This is probably better suited for people living in the city, like Mark in DC (shout out from NOVA👋). In DC especially during rush hour your faster getting around on foot or bike than by car anyways, so it makes sense! Suburban life is obviously a bit different. However, one of my favorite run commutes is with my dog to Starbucks (5k) where I meet my wife (whose handicapped) then run back home. 🏡 🐕🏃♂️☕👱♀️🏡

You’re right about it being easier to run commute in a city. Distances are shorter and, as you said, it can be much faster to travel by foot! Your run to a Starbucks date sounds ideal. You get to chill with your wife and then just run home, rather than working all day, which is never fun 😂)

Great video as always, Matt! I run commute every day, door to door is exactly 5km. I often stop off to get groceries en route home as there is a Whole Foods on the way, I run with anything from almond creamer, fruit to a box of vegan muffins, the people driving past must have a good laugh at the person running by with groceries 😁 one time that I probably regretted literally ‘running errands’ is when I ran to get a tin of paint and had to run 2 miles home with a full can of paint and brushes 🤣 one tip I have for anyone that is thinking of run commuting is invest in some lightweight Tupperware, try and avoid ceramic and glass heavy dishes, you will feel much better to have a lighter pack 👍🏻

Good advice with the Tupperware! Wow, running with a can of paint seems very awkward and heavy, but i'm still impressed! 👊🏼

I live just 3 miles from where I work. Recently, I’ve started walking to work. I don’t know if I’ll run there, but walking takes me just 15 minutes more than driving does, but saves me A LOT of stress. I might only be three miles from my job, but it’s basically bumper to bumper traffic the entire way. I can’t walk to work every day because of commitments I have to my kids, but even a couple times a week has been a great boost to my mental health, saves miles on my car, gets me more “time on feet” which as an ultra runner I’m always looking for, and I swear I’m recovering faster between runs. So, I’m planning on sticking with it!

So I had to drop off a U-haul truck when I was living alone a few years ago and while I could have taken a taxi back home I decided to just run home instead. I looked it up on the map and figured that it was only six miles which I just used as a training run. I was able to save some money and get in a run.

I haven’t really don’t run commutes to work, but I have ended my run at my kids soccer games. It’s allows me to get my run and not feel rushed to get it in and get home in time to go the game. I have also taken advantage of running during their soccer practice.

Run Commuting! I didn't know there was even a name for the crazy things I do naturally and spontaneously, lol. But seriously, here is my feedback: Run communiting is a great way of growing closer to the community you live in (your feelings grow fonder as you get to know your neighborhood more intimately), discover new businesses (think restaurants, happy hour spots, dry cleaning, etc), run into friends and make new ones (has happened many times!), discover new running routes, practice your running skills and, if you are super motivated, even strength train (those 10lb bags of groceries do count and you can do lunges with them and also bicep curls for your arms, lol). I know this sounds crazy--I told you it is!--but I do it every week and it feels great to get your groceries done (something fairly mundane and routine) and get fit simultaneously (something exciting, you can be proud of!). Definitely do it to spice up your runs and add some spontaneity to running. Highly recommended!

I have run commuted for errands. One random time I ran to town & got a call from a sports shop that a water bladder I ordered had arrived, perfect timing it was! Wasn't too bulky to run home with thankfully. One thing I don't tend to do is mark them as commutes on Strava though, probably should. I usually drive my kids to school on my way to work mostly year round, I do walk commute during summer school holidays when I can. That saves me money, saves petrol, have to limit my impluse coffee shop buys though. 3kms to my work :-) expect right now, I'm working from home due to the c virus!
