You have described my experience with Runn also. Once I got it set it was fine. However, this weekend I did the ATV 4k update for Zwift and my Runn now has constant drop outs. Used my Stryd yesterday on Zwift with ATV and zero drop outs. If I have time today I will fiddle with the Runn and see if I can stop the drop outs.

Been using the Runn for a few months now. Unlike others I didn't have any issues applying the stickers to the belt. Very impressed with the speed accuracy, cadence is not too bad but the incline is nowhere near even after calibrating via the GymTrakr App. Suspect the device itself might be be dropping on one side of the cradle which is giving a false reading. But overall I'm pretty happy with it as it gets me Zwifting.

I agree with the review but some extra remarks. 1/ after calibration speed is pretty accurate (10.8 when running 11) 2/ works great together with the virtual run feature on garmin devices 3/indeed some dropouts during zwift sessions and 4/ incline is not accurate at all. Even after calibration and a replacement device from NPE. For my treadmill it reads +/- half de incline (f. E 5% when treadmill is on 10%), even after calibration which is a big difference during hill sessions....

I should also add is that the part that worries me is that my NordicTrack Treadmill is sometimes folded away, and I don't fancy having to re-adjust every time I do that

Great help watching this video thank you. I’ve just bought the Runn and having all the issues along with connection problems using the unit with Zwift on my iPad. I got that miffed off this morning with it that I gave it up as a bad job. I might be acting prematurely but thinking a Stryd foot pod may be the answer?!?!?!? Thanks for sharing the video

I would always buy a Stryd pod over the Runn yes. Far to fiddly and annoying. The Stryd is not perfect but unless you're in the market for a smart treadmill, it's the best we have.

Hi, want to track my runs on the treadmill. I have a Fenix 6 and want to have Ascent, Descent and Garmin Training Effect. Will this work? Thanks
@FilmMyRun
Жыл бұрын
Yes it will. Your Fenix will only measure speed, distance and cadence on the treadmill. It won’t measure incline. For that you need either a smart treadmill or the Runn Smart Treadmill sensor or you can use an app called RunCline.

As your foot hits the belt, the belt itself moves up and down. The Runn detects that

There's a difference between calibrating your treadmill or calibrating your footpod within Zwift. Many treadmills don't allow you to calibrate and change the speed. Some do. But what you can do is work out exactly at what speed your treadmill is running. I have another video on the channel about measuring your treadmill speed.
@hugodias5056

is this more accurate than stryd footpod on treadmill specifically
@FilmMyRun
2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Yes and no is the honest answer I’m afraid. The Runn will try to match the speed of your treadmill belt. You can calibrate it and some people get very good results. But I found it to be rather flakey and inconsistent. The Stryd will almost always measure slower than your treadmill. Some of this is because it’s measuring your actual foot which slows the treadmill belt down upon impact. But also because the Stryd is not accurate out of the box so will also need calibrating. If I had to choose I would go with the Stryd because I generally find out more consistent.

last year my runn worked well, this year its weird, it always drops out and also I have to run, walking or standing next to the belt doesnt move me forward on zwift wich is annoying since sometimes I just want to walk. Last year this just worked... Did they update something so that it considers a pressure sensor on your treadmill? but even then i dont think theres a connection between zwift and my treadmill itself, only zwift to Runn... If anyone can help me out, thanks alot

I don't know if anything has been updated on the Runn. But I've always found it a rather flakey device. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Sometimes it works well, other times it's just okish. There will only be a connection between Zwift and your treadmill if it is a smart treadmill. If you have any specific questions then do give me a shout.

Most people will buy this Runn to allow their older model treadmill to communicate wirelessly. My Sole F-85 reports wirelessly - but it reports the wrong belt speed (see UPDATE below). 😩 So far, Sole has failed to address my issue (see UPDATE below). In the meantime, the Runn allows me to report my workouts accurately. The Runn is difficult to set up, especially getting the LEDs to work with just that little white button. UPDATE: Sole sent a technician to my home who successfully recalibrated my F-85 to report the correct belt speed to within 1%.
@FilmMyRun

How inaccurate is the reporting compared to the actual belt speed?
@johngardner1898
2 жыл бұрын
@Film My Run Stephen - with a hand held measurement wheel, and now with the Runn, the belt is moving 16.5 - 18.5% faster than reported by my Sole F-85. That is a big difference! So I am NOT calibrating my Runn to the broken treadmill. I am using the Runn to report accurately to Zwift, hoping Sole will eventually return my calls and e-mails.

I fell your pain with the Sole brand. I bought a new Sole F63 treadmill and I'm having problems getting treadmill to connect to apps like Zwift, Rouvy, and FitGym. I would like to mount this on the right side of my treadmill where the "Sole" 'graphic on the belt is. Will the graphic impact this sensor?
@johngardner1898

@Mike Kropp The graphics aren't a problem. But you have to glue the stickers supplied by Runn onto the belt to keep them from coming off.

Just received it, stickers useless, had to use some tippexx, but can't for the life of me get the incline, records 0.7 rather than 1 for example, even using calibrated. Cradle is awful. Support said this to me "We are actually working on replicating these issues and working on a solution. I will update you when we have a better timeline. Regarding the cradle, we are working on a new model currently."

@@FilmMyRun : I have both the Runn and Stryd, both lack clear instructions. I like you however think Runn takes too long to setup properly and I'm still trying to figure out how to make it stay in the cradle better. As Bill mentions, they should have put some indicator on it for when you need to recharge it. My treadmill is 21 years old now and I've never really trusted the speeds with Zwift. As I recently bought both the Runn and Stryd (more for outside workouts), I think either one of these would have worked, but I like the idea of always having a unit on the treadmill.
