I grew up in and around Huddersfield and went to Greenhead College - right next to the park. I used to walk through the park every day on my way to college and so it brings back fabulous memories for me. I have lived in Bridgend, South Wales for 31 years - Porthcawl is my home parkrun but whenever I'm in Huddersfield visiting I always make sure I do the parkrun there. Absolutely love it and have made wonderful friends through doing so - not least the lovely VKP :)

Awwww VKP! Funnily enough we've just spent a fair amount of time in Bridgend! I ran from Kenfig to Cardiff and then we've visited Porthcawl, Rhossili and Nash Point and run Pontypridd and Pontypool parkruns so feels like I know the area pretty well now! 🙃 I'm actually in love with South Wales now! Although finally managed to drag myself away to Devon as we're running Woolacombe Dunes parkrun this parkrunday 😍

@@NicolaRuns just spotted this comment - fabulous. Bridgend is lush. Ideally located on the coast - equidistant from two cities and the coastline is lush. You’ll have to come back and do Porthcawl parkrun - look out for the International Elvis festival in September - always a good week to do it. Ironically I did Woolacombe Dunes a few weeks ago while on my honeymoon! Great parkrun in a lush setting. Tough but fabulous.

Chip butty after parkrun sounds perfect! Our local post parkrun café does chips but not as a butty. Strangely quite a few people think we're a bit odd for having chips at 10.30 in the morning. We don't care, they taste great.

Honestly I can't tell you how stressed I was that we were going to arrive after 8:15. I was convinced there would be nowhere to park but it was totally fine now numbers have reduced a bit post parkrun pause. It's a shame there's no car park but it's so central so I guess there was just never any room! And parking is always manageable but like you say... When it's a struggle then I do feel for the local residents! Using the bowling green is a stroke of genius isn't it?! 👌😃

Huddersfield parkrun was where my parkrun journey started nearly 7 years ago. I have been back there a couple of times since then, but not recently, (being a southerner), so it was great to visit my Alma Mater again through your vlog. My first impressions of that very first parkrun there was the excitement of setting off with so many smiley people and then, about half-way through, seeing the snake of runners in every direction, on different parts of the park. parkrun pervasiveness at its best!. I remember thinking also that the Marshalls were super friendly and encouraging, full of "northern friendliness".

Cheers Nic. What a thoroughly entertaining video that was. 🙂 Nice to see you & Poppy before & during the run. This was my 1st visit here. What a stunningly beautiful park it is. The course was very interesting with under & over the bridge, fast sections, lots of sharp turns and sneaky hills. This year, I have made a point of spreading my wings and trying to visit other ParkRuns. It really has opened my eyes to what lovely parks there are. The following week to this I visited Preston ParkRun which was another stunning park. If you haven't done that one, then I would certainly recommend it. Thanks again. Ps. Damn. Didn't realise post run chip butties were available. Feel I've missed out. 😭

It was so lovely to see you guys there 🤗 I laughed when I was editing the video as I paused to check to cheer you on and say Col instead of Keith 🤣 Which is your home parkrun? I think it's awesome that you're going to do a bit more parkrun tourism. It's such a great way to see the world! Although I always wonder how much of the course you really fast runners get to see. I'm forever mentioning things to Al and he has no clue as he ran past too quickly 😂 Not sure if that's just him or if that's most fast runners?! We obviously get twice the time to see the park while we're running so it was nice to see you guys exploring the park after your run ☺️ You need to up your cafe game though... Chip butties should be a priority 😜

@@NicolaRuns My home ParkRun is Crossflatts in South Leeds - I ran 42 of my 1st 50 ParkRuns at that venue. A bit embarrassed to say I’d not done any of the other Leeds ParkRuns up until a 3 months ago (🙈) but am now on a ‘tourism’ streak of about 13. I’m not at Al’s level but still take in my surroundings, appreciate the scenery and always thank marshals each time I pass them. I also like finish and then stay and behind to cheer others on. It’s genuinely inspiring to see those who aren’t as quick, put in a massive effort to finish.
