Hi Keith awesomeness what a great build, it came out beautifully ❤️. I'm really surprised about the front suspension arms breaking, I've never seen Tamiya plastic being that brittle. Possibly because it's vintage and been in storage for years in a warm or hot environment? One other point though is if the plastic is that brittle I think you made a very brave choice to run a 2 S lipo battery but maybe it was just a freak thing about the arms on front breaking. And anyway nickel metal hydride and nickel metal cadmium batteries really suck. Like it takes more time to charge than you would get run time driving the car. Lipo battery technology is so much better. And the great news is Tamiya have re released the Super Sabre now in 2023 should already be available in North America and Europe and England and will be released in Australia before Christmas 2023 awesomeness AWESOME love your channel Keith 👌👍

I've lost track of how many vintage kits I've built or fully restored recently but haven't been able to bring myself to run them in fear of making them less than perfect as a result! I hear ya about the plastics being brittle. I bought a Falcon and it looked perfect and I looked closely, all good. Then I ran it, fairly gently, and broke an arm straight off. From there cracks just started to appear. CASD and 3D printing ftw there. I have a Boomerang. Restoed it, replaced one arm, and it ran well, surprisingly stable car. It sat in the shelf for a year or so, and a shock mount broke on a front arm, from just sitting there. I guess maybe it's better to run them and have them break rather that breaking on the shelf. Fun Vid btw!

Haha yeah in my opinion everyone involved in this hobby nowadays and back in the 80s/90s needs to run these cars every now and then just to take you back in time too a time of absolute excitement and dreams! I agree too Keith the Sabre really missed out back then it never really had the love it deserved but that definitely makes it more desirable nowadays for sure! Yours looks fantastic Keith what an epic looking buggy and definitely the Super Sabre is one that looks even better up close. I raced a Boomerang back in the day so know how it performs too! Really fun driving and goes great even in stock! Tamiya must rere this ASAP and as it should be how it was! Sorry but no BHM version this time please tamiya but with the silver wheels that would be a nice move! I think they mailed that one in with some copy/paste efforts. I am sure they will sell but I doubt anywhere like the Wild One did. I am very hopeful they release the regular version shortly after the BH comes out as I want one like sooooo many other do as well! I had one of these growing up, I drove it so much that I completely wore all the front dog bones and cups out and it ended up becoming a 2WD. I always felt the drivetrain was inefficient, and that 540 motors and nicad batteries of the time didn't seem powerful enough to justify 4WD, and I couldn't afford a modified, so for my next Christmas present I asked for an Astute that I raced and beat my friends JRx2 with.

The blackhead addition as you stated is piss poor because they changed out and did not go the full silver molded plastic and that was what would have truly made a blockhead style and over the top and when did the blackheads they’ll fall under the same paint scheme is that what’s going to happen the Jun decide for Tamaya, that that color Stephen was going to represent his name sake? I got a feeling that that’s not how it was supposed to end up because of the Watanabe frog that I saw you should see what I have done with my daughters frog, and all of the color influences that my daughter chose for that build at the age of six. The number one choice and the coolest suggestion that she gave me after noticing that the ORV chassis were the same, was in her own words, “daddy can we use the red pieces from your truck and put them in my frog? (I sacrificed my all original vintage black black ) And right there I knew that we were going to have a hit. What does this have to do with the blockhead version of the hotshot I’m not sure that you wutanabe versions of the dress up game should all have the same paint scheme. If that’s what’s gonna happen then they need to go back and Change the Hornet to have the same paint scheme.
