The most underrated band of the last 40 years!!!farewell Runrig!

There was something about Runrig that was magical. They never got the massive commercial acclaim of other inferior bands but perhaps that was a good thing. When you went to a Runrig gig you knew you were going to be a part of something special. The band, the audience, the incredible music, the poetry of the songs. It was lke 'Going Home ' You knew you were with kindred spirits and for those few hours you could dare to hope for better. To have grown older with the band and my fellow Riggies has been a privilege and a joy. Ta for that Runrig . It has never happened with any other band, and I have seen hundreds

Thank you. We have seen here before our eyes the evolution of a Scottish Legend, where the Boys From the Isles walked off a Stirling stage, through those golden gates and into the Land where Scottish Legends live....forever. For a short while we walked alongside them. Our magnificent privilege... our eternal memory.

I'd been listening to Runrig for over 35 years. I had to scrounge around here in Canada to find their albums, but over the years managed to find most of them. Alas, never did get to see them in concert. But no matter, Runrig is still one of my all-time favourite bands. Always will be! Since their final concert, all I'm listening to at home is all their albums. Over and over again. I'm already missing them, knowing there will be no more new songs. Thank you, Runrig, for all the years of THE best music ever! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Grew up in Oban in the 70s and was lucky enough to see Runrig a number of times at the Corran Halls and on CalMacs Mystery cruises. After moving down south I went to see them regularly in Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Bruce did a good job but the authentic Runrig sound will always be Donnie Munro for me.

If you manage to stay in the public consciousness for forty-five years in the music business, you must be doing something right. That is what the boys managed to do so well. The amazing thing is that they have managed to do it singing in Gaelic to audiences who don't have a word of Gaelic. Runrig's music was so good that it didn't matter whether or not you could speak Gaelic; the emotion in the music and the sheer poetry of their lyrics was what made them special to their fans. It is a tragedy that the kids of tomorrow are not going to be able to experience Runrig in the flesh as we who hold them dear have done all these years. I will certainly miss them!

Hiya Colin, I have followed Runrig since a village hall in Broadford, Isle of Skye in the 70's. Through Balloch Loch Lomond. My daughter went to her First Gig at Drumnadrochit the year of the flood - she was 9. So memories of Runrig will live well beyond my death... 'Hearts of Olden Glory"; Grow Young..........."

Thank You so much for putting this out here.. What an amazing collection, with equally amazing memories. You are alive!!! as you always have been. The short piece of Malcolm with Callum and Iain, (between This is not a Love Song and Hampton remix), such a piece of guitar playing is exceedingly rare.I can't not mention Callum and Iain they must have been soaking.... What wonderful times we have had together and how young we were!! Music for bringing people together and raising the spirits.. And the cream on the pudding you listened when we sang to you... Thank You all. - "There must be a place under the sun, where hearts of olden glory grow young." See you all there.!!!

Without this great band I'd never have appreciated I'm a descendant of this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_Bruce and on my mother side her mother was a Kirkbright actually a name originating from kirkcudbright tried going swimming with my two step brothers there once, when they'd go camping in a private static caravan village named Sandgreen next door to Gatehouse of Fleet (love that area south west of Scotland all on the Solway Firth the stretch of sea north of Ireland.

There's this as well kzitem.info/news/bejne/qm6kvIyojqSca34 Griogal (Gregor in Gáidhlig) Cridhe meaning Beloved Gregor, is essentially taken from this poem/song kzitem.info/news/bejne/qqOH4KGsfKhmmYY is the background of that song a very old Gáidhlig song and a really newer one of it too kzitem.info/news/bejne/uIxtuoSwh4GmeqA and this as well kzitem.info/news/bejne/y3t3vIuDq4R2l4I

Also may have never realised this or even known this but in Gáidhlig (Scots Gaelic which is how I prefer to use the term and since Irish is Gaeilge its the family of seriously the most amazing family languages on the planet haha) plaid is actually the Gáidhlig word for cloth there's these as well as in addition to the above (though nothing to do with Runrig) kzitem.info/news/bejne/wqyC0q2ErGWDgoY real like roots music Waulking cloth or tweed kzitem.info/news/bejne/opukqKKghJqBg6Q probably where Black Blues came from actually I'd have thought.
