Her description of how she ended up in an abusive relationship at a young age really struck me. I know what it's like to be so desirous of attention that you gravitate to the hungry wolves who know that YOU are prey and seek you it.

Please forget it all again... Learn actual poetic devices rather than the statements that she calls poetry. There are so many people of all demographics that were good enough to be published without having to use instagram where the bar is so low. Maya Angelou is one of the most famous american poets of newer date and she is african american. Look up to her and her peers if you wanna learn quality lessons.

32:22 ~ such truth & understanding & Innerstanding & honest wisdom from a strong Authentic Young lady, it's amazing to see & gives me more hope of women uplifting & supporting other women, especially younger women to help them break old negative programs & cycles & not Imposing & perpetuating these cycles into & onto another generation of women & men also.

I'm certainly no Rupi Kaur, nor do I ever aspire to reach her literary greatness. But I love writing my poetry. Here is one of my shoter poems. On The Shoulders Of Giants ------------------------------------------------- I was born in the shadow of an old paradigm. But I always could see the light. I was born seeing new horizons, As others have before me. And like those others, I am at best tolerated, And at worst cast aside. But I am defiant. I stand on the shoulders of giants. When I stepped out of the shadow, I became intoxicated. I felt shivers as daggers impaling my soul. I felt a freedom that bows to no tradition, And only serves the divine. I realized I could drink from this cup of truth. I realized I could break these chains that bind me.

Is that really you Lewis? At the 24:15 mark, when you asked, "what is the difference between surviving and living?" After I heard her voice crack, I stopped everything I was doing. I listened to her answer, went back a couple of times to listen again, and wrote her complete answer down. I plan on putting her words in a frame today, starting with: " I used to think that, uhm, when..., well, this was when I was a lot younger...

I have not read her yet so I am not here to judge her work but she says her writing is fluid and she writes a lot. My concern with people who write a lot: their stuff get diluted and they just hit on anything that moves. But I am glad she found people who like her poetry.

Despite her severe vocal fry, she is endearing.Poet....not so much. Angst-filled "journaling" cannot pass for poetry. Venturing into blank verse is more demanding.

I'm a huge fan of her writing. I own and have read both of her book, but I HAD to stop listening to this because I could not stand her "vocal fry" and didn't want to dislike her. She sounds like a basic sorority girl.

Rupi you are beautiful and raw and transparent and you have expressed the emotional roller coaster that many of us have ridden on. Wow! I am truly touched and a new fan. Lewis, great interview. @@lewishowes I was trapped in an emotionally abusive relationship at a very young age...it started as a dream and ended up as nightmares. I was stuck in self worthlessness for decades. The process of healing isn't a simple task. We all carry it within us for our entire life. It faded away like an old dress but engulfed a long period of time. The parent's part is a long story. Thanks for the reply..it was unexpected:.Stay safe.🙂
