I work in the food logistics industry/inventory control for grocery stores. Most grocery stores get resupplied multiple times a week. What you see on the shelves is typically what they have. The back of grocery stores doesn't have a whole lot of space for storage, so whatever they have in the back is just enough to fill the empty spaces on the shelves. Even the big warehouses that feed all your local/regional grocery stores get resupplied 5 times a week....

Firefighter and Rancher in rural South Dakota. I absolutely agree, location based loadouts is a huge factor when considering your kit and gear. Keep in mind here in South Dakota when we talk about hunting, we're not going out and popping Muleys at 50 yards with a 30-30... Most everyone around here hunts elk and antelope. Minimum 300-500 yard capabilities. And that's the close the range side of it all, 1000 yards is not unheard of for Elk and Antelope hunting out here. We're out here taking down game at long ranges literally for sport every single year. So when considering your loadouts for rural America, don't forget hunting calibers and long range shooting is litteraly a way of life for us. Makes a huge difference compared to some thug with a Glock.

That’s good stuff. I would like to make one suggestion; you should consider a 16” barrel. I realize many seem enamored with the 14.5 barrel but it’s a 300 yard gun. What I mean is that while you can hit targets at ranges past 300, that doesn’t mean you will have an effective hit at those ranges; ie the maximum effective range of an M16A2 is 500 yards. Also 16” is the shortest barrel length that effectively stabilizes the 55 grain projectile.
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
9 ай бұрын
1.5" of barrel makes more difference in handling than it does at range. There also is a reasonable minimum length to stabilize 55 grain. One needs a minimum twist rate, which all modern ARs will meet or exceed.

@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz - sorry, I didn’t receive a notice you responded. The SEAL snipers figured it out. They wanted a sniper rifle with a max effective range of 600 yards that was 10 lbs or less they could also use in a firefight. They had their armorers remove the 14.5” barrel from the M4, install a stainless 16” barrel and a two stage trigger then added a scope shooting a 77 grain match grade projectile. The result was called the SEAL Sniper or M4 Sniper. The birth of the so called “recce rifle.” Edit - you can Google it. It is also called the SEAL Recon Rifle.

KISS is a fluid term however. Whats simple now was super complicated back twenty years ago. KISS has always meant "grab what you need", but what you grab and what you need vary WILDLY depending on your situation and location. Sure, a Brown Bess musket is super simple, but why on earth would you handicap yourself like that? An M16A1 is a great system, but lets face it: an older A1 does not have the adaptablity and the capability as a URGI style build, and for us Civvies, being able to configure your kit to your needs (and the enemies capabilities) is the order of the day.

I don't mean to be grumpy, but it sounds like you have a multi thousand dollar carbine that's really only suitable for fighting fairly close. Out here in the hinterlands you'll be facing heavy caliber rifles with some serious glass, and frequently encountering 30-06, 8mm, and others on irons. Keep in mind that when you're traveling your literally passing through other people's rifle ranges. It's one big marksmans alley.
@Cowboy.underwater

I’m assuming the goal with this carbine is to have enough firepower to get yourself out of a tight spot if you need to. The problem with building a counter sniping rig to go against big 7mm and 30 cal rifles is that you don’t know that they’re there until they start shooting, at which point it’s too late.

The thing about 14.5" is there are a lot of really, really good and rugged optics with a BDC matched to that length because obviously the military uses it. For example, a lot of the ACOGs use a 14.5" for their BDC and it matches up really well even when using different ammo. I was shooting my DD M4A1(block 2 M4) with a TA31 RCO and made first round impacts at 500m with 77gr even though the reticle is designed for 62gr. It also just feels right. It feels very "wieldy". Yeah, you gotta pin and weld which kinda sucks but just select a really good muzzle device, I usually go with a Surefire flash hider although the 3 prong has been impossible to find for the last year and I don't know what is going on with that. I also am a big fan of 11.5" with a suppressor but I don't currently own a suppressor so I just shoot my 14.5" pin and weld guns. I'm gonna get a can soon though. May as well get a Surefire RC2 since I already got a bunch of the muzzle devices lol.

The other day when I was heading to work in central Florida. I saw three semi trucks stopping traffic in I4 which caused traffic for about 15 miles back.

The red plastic piece from the headlamp snaps onto the longer side of the headlamp. The black rubber "U" piece next to it, slips over the red plastic to secure it from falling.

Really curious, too. What is he referring to?

@@parkswan8025 possibly an i-Gel or King supraglottic airway, he might also have been trained to provide a cricothyroidotomy. Those are my only guesses. 28F NPA is super small though and everyone should have one in their kit.

I think Source has an inline water filter. Clean water keeps you on your feet. I'm a big fan of the Grayl bottles as well.

A couple reliable built out lowers and multiple uppers. You don't need ump-teen different rifles to have one for every conceivable scenario.

Truck rifle, bed rifle, living room rifle, BOL/LPOP rifle, wife's rifle, shop rifle, shower pistol, and 3 rifles for the neighborhood QRF. And that's just what Hunter Biden has.

HEADLIGHT MANUFACTURERS: Please make a legitimate headlamp with an easy slide captive red lens. The Tikka Tac did it back in the day but the bulb sucks. All I want is good light and no buttons to switch to red, much like what our brother said here.

Just a suggestion for comms, I would go for the motorola xpr series obviously do research on what frequency range to get and all that but they are really great radios, they have encryption. Use the same accessories as APX public safety radios so there are tons out there. Another option are XTS radios but a bit more pricy depending on what you get

I don't have a armalite rifle, I mainly run an cuerno de chivo "ak47" with just a rear leaf after market peep sight, flashlight as my do everything rifle. I'm also saving up for pvs-7s. I like your set up, but all of them optics makes me think are you some crazy AF Hubble space telescope.
