Rush didn’t tour western Canada for grace under pressure or hold your fire, and I missed seeing them in Edmonton on the power windows tour because of a massive blizzard that hit that day and we couldn’t make the 6 hr drive. I finally got to see them in Calgary on the Presto tour. Clockwork Angels tour was incredible to see because they brought out lots of their 80’s stuff that i never got to see on those tours.

It's unbelievable how many other bands and artists list RUSH as their inspiration. This band plays their music and not what anyone wants them to. They play with integrity and honesty. And they are good, decent people without drama and all the typical garbage. I love the story from Gene Simmons when RUSH was opening for Kiss and he went to check on them at the hotel and they were just sitting around reading books instead of partying with drugs and women. Really says a lot about them.

even if Geddy can't get his voice up as high as he used to, he can actually get it down deeper in his gut, making it sound good in a different way. he's still good singer, not flat like so many people even newbies these days are in concerts when not using thier stupid "vocoders".

You can actually hear the drums from the stage rather than the mics. Sounds much more like they are "supposed to" sound.
@MickAv8r

+stevedrums you definitely are getting their natural sound for sure. I was also down front for the Irvine show on that tour. I also noticed on that tour that the house speakers on the stage had a more direct natural sound than the hanging cabinets do mostly because they are firing right at your head when you are in the front rows.

Neil had great drums on their final tours. Thought the sound was nicely balanced, not too bright and not too dark. Very full-bodied sound.
@johnkeller9738
5 жыл бұрын
The other big difference is being at Red Rocks, the best amphitheater acoustically with partial arena echo making a clean sounding concert when compared to standard amphitheaters which suffer more from wind distortion of sound and no echo at all. Being at 2nd row here certainly makes a direct impression with drums predominant over all songs heard.

I look at that stage with sadness. As a teenager in the late 70s, Red Rocks was our go to place late at night after the park closed and we would party on that stage getting stoned and just having a good time. I spent more time at Red Rocks then I did going to High School at Green Mountain. Took ceramics in the morning, then skipped classes until guitar class. My brothers ashes are floating around Red Rocks near the cemetery.
