i think that 'Permanent Waves' and 'Moving Pictures' are so immaculately produced and well-written and performed, they'll sound good forever. I love the other rush records, but i can't say that about them. i recently explored 'test for echo' and 'clockwork angels' , which i hadn't heard until this week, and was pleasantly surpised. i didn't really like those couple albums after 'signals'. however, with those two more recent albums i listed, they go for kind of a more punk sound, a bold move, i think.

@@jimmythebold589 I love love love Permanent Waves! As amazing as Moving Pictures is, PW is my go to! Aside from the amazing songs, to me, the production on PW is immaculate! It's like I'm in the studio with them!!! My sleeper is Grace Under Pressure. In fact, in the last decade or so, I've probably listened to it more than any other Rush album. I love the songs...The playing...Ged is singing in a lower more pleasing register...And while the production isn't perfect, it is still a sonically enjoyable experience. Happy listening 😃

@@KT2112-bootz Listening to RUSH since I was a kid back in the 70's - I firmly believe RUSH is better for it. And they'd probably say the same. Simply put, what we get is Lee, Lifeson and Peart when they're together in their groove, regardless of what anyone thinks. And there's no topping that vibe. Say an album wasn't a commercial success... Well, fuck it - They liked it !! That attitude and drive is what breeds true musicianship. They've always done their thing. Right there with you @GRILLBUOY101 having a hard time listening to them at the moment without crying. I got home Friday night after an unusually long day at work. I had told my bandmates earlier in the day that I wasn't going to be making to band practice due to the unexpected overtime. I got home and heard the news. Picked up the phone to message my best friend and guitarist of our band. He had already messaged me only a minute earlier. I sat there in disbelief for a few minutes. Then I questioned what the hell I was doing just sitting there. My mind kind of cleared and I asked myself, "What would Neil want me to do?" (Some may think that that sounds or is cliche/corny but I don't care). It became clear after that internal question was asked. I should go jam with my best friends. I NEED to go jam with my best friends. I could almost hear Neil saying, "Life is to short to pass up any opportunity to do something you love with those that you love." Thank you, Neil.

Producer: "Geddy, we need to do another take." Geddy: "Why?" Producer: "Because at the end of the song you said 'evalate from the norm'." Geddy: "So?" Producer: "There's no such word as 'evalate'." Geddy: "Screw it. Leave it in there. It can be a talking point for our fans." Producer: "OK. It's your dime..."

FOUND THIS ANSWER, If any of you happened to see the video that we made for "Vital Signs," you may have noticed the great lump of metal that was growing out of my chest. That was the PZM. In the reprise of the song introduction, beginning at the second half of the track, I used an unusual two-handed ride.

This is a prime example of just how unique and unconventional Rush was. The sing changes tempo all over the place, changes genre a few times, and is superior to all else. We live in the best reality, that we got to hear Rush.

Recorded at the iconic Le Studio in Morin Heights. Such a shame to hear of the loss of such a great studio but, the classic music lives on that was recorded there. Some of Rush’ best work. Thinking Man’s Music.

There's not hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of this band and how much I love them - and miss them. Thank you RUSH for all you have given us. I always knew that if just one of them - anyone of them - died or quit the band for some unbelievable reason; that RUSH would belong to history because not one of them could ever be replaced - ever. There can only be one Geddy, Alex and Neil. Anything - or anyone - less than that; could no longer be called RUSH. May their music forever echo into eternity - Long Live RUSH!!!!!!!!
I had the opportunity yesterday to visit the site of Le Studio for the first time. The feeling of setting foot where this masterpiece was written as well as so many others will be unforgettable. I hope all die hard Rush fans get the same opportunity I had. Even if the building is no longer there, the mood of the place is quite extraordinary. Long live Rush!

When I was 15 yrs old, my twin brother and I started a band just by listening to Rush for the first time. He was already a drummer and we needed a bass player. Right then, I learned how to play from Geddy Lee...The greatest rock bass player of all time..too me. First one I learned was Hemispheres. All of it and the whole album. Then, many more Rush songs. Then, by High School, they said I was the greatest bass player they ever had...thanks to Geddy Lee.
