Russ Ballard is a musical genius, as a member of the late 1960's, early/mid 1970's hard rock band Argent "Hold Your Head Up", to writing hit songs for KISS, Uriah Heep, ABBA, Roger Daltrey of The Who, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, America, Head East, Night Ranger, Santana, Three Dog Night, Blackfoot, Bay City Rollers, Brian May of Queen, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, The Zombies, The Alan Parsons Project, to name just a few. Simply amazing career. The brief guitar solo is masterful, capturing the essence of this song.

I'm Arlind, I'm from Albania, and this song is actually on my list of my top 200 favorite songs, but actually in honourable mentions, peaking at #34. We don't give a shit what decade has the best music ever, the 1980s were so full of best music, electronic music and R&B music etc. They'll remain!

Lyrics : If you could see my mind, if you really look deep, then maybe you'll find That somewhere there will be a place, hidden behind my comedian face You will find somewhere there's a house, and inside that house there's a room Locked in the room in the corner you see A voice is waiting for me, to set it free, I got the key, I got the key Voices, I hear voices In my head the voice is waiting, waiting for me to set it free I locked it inside my imagination, but I'm the one who's got the combination Some people didn't like what the voice did say So I took the voice and I locked it away, I got the key, I got the key Voices, I hear voices, voices, I hear voices Chorus: Don't look back, look straight ahead, don't turn away, then the voice it said Don't look back, yesterday's gone, don't turn away, you can take it on Voices, I hear voices, voices, I hear voices Voices, voices, voices, voices - don't look back Voices, voices

Then the other night I heard Russ's song In The Night in a movie or tv show and my brain instantly said "that sounds like Russ Ballard!". So I used Shazam and discovered it was Russ Ballard. The memories all came flooding back from my teenage years almost 40 years ago. What a blast from the past! Glad this song holds up after all these years.

Loved it whenever the local album rock radio station played this song when I was a young Gen X'r.

Awesome song! Very apocalyptic like it belongs on a Divergent soundtrack and the harmonies are spot on. I wish I could write songs like this masterpiece. You should be very proud Russ Ballard...

Your can find "Miami Vice" episodes all over the El Rey Network. This song was featured prominently on an early episode entitled "Calderone's Return (Part II)." I love this song! Thanks for posting it.

+The '80s Live Here Oh,really? I used to watch MV back in the day, and don't recall it being used on there, but I recall the Phil Collins songs they used, though, lol. Good song by a talented singer-songwriter,though.

@ ainmaker690: That may be because in syndicated versions they changed some of the original songs - probably due to music rights or something like that.
