He describes his childhood and family, including his father, who served in both World Wars. He describes attending Atlanta Crackers baseball games and describes the stadium on Ponce de Leon. He tells of his education and early work experience and how he entered the Army. He describes basic training and being recommended for Officer Candidate School. He was sent to an OCS holding company at Fort Harrison and explains how he left OCS and applied to go to Vietnam. He details his arrival there as well as his duties. He relates several stories, including what the Tet Offensive was like. He tells of his homecoming and post-military career. He describes two visits back to Vietnam and shows photos and mementos.
